My mom is gonna have her baby this friday(I work this friday). Today is tuesday. I told my boss about it yesterday. He told me that i need to find someone to work for me. Keep in mind ive been workin at ponderosa for about 3 months and i only know a couple of eployees. I need to find somone to work for me. I don't know!!! i don't have any numbers to call... should i call tommorow and ask my boss who should i have work for me? lol im trying not to look like a fool. What should i do? Do i ask my boss for some numbers or do i call and just start asking random people to work for me? This is a resturant that i work at....????

What you do is this:

Don't call anyone. Not your boss, not no other employees, no one.

On Friday when you wake up, call work.

In a disguised voice, tell them there are three bombs stashed in hidden locations at the restaurant and they are set to go off later that day unless all of the prisoners at Guanatamo Bay are released by 6:00 PM.

That should give your mom plenty of time to lay some more eggs.

when you go into work between today(tuesday) and Thursday....look for someone that works on the same shift as you and tell them your situation and i'm sure a co-worker will have some heart and you'll find a replacement........ OR

Worst case scenerio:
On Friday call in and tell them that your mom went into labor early. Tell your boss that your mom got contractions in the morning and you accompanied her to the hospital. That SHOULD WORK......UNLESS....your mom is giving birth thru a scheduled operation(cesaryan section aka c-section).

first try finding a replacement and if that doesn't work.....call in early and tell them your mom went into labor.....unless your boss knows that your mom is having a c-section. But do the right thing and make sure you're there when your mom gives birth to your bro/sis. That right there is a moment you'll never forget.

hope everything goes well....

^^^^ THERE YOU GO RIGHT THERE ...... YEAH, AND HOW DO 'YA KNOW ITS GONNA BE ON FRIDAY FOR SURE, UNLESS ITS A SCHEDULED BIRTH LIKE THE HOMIE LISTED ABOVE ..... CAUSE IF FRIDAY IS JUST HER DUE DATE, ITS RARE IT HAPPENS ON THE EXACT DAY ..... MOST OF THE TIME SOONER THAN LATER ....

Why wouldn't you just call in sick ? Tell them you had a family emergency and they can't investigate any further than that.

It shouldn't be your responsibility to find coverage...thats part of what management does - staffing.

But...you haven't been there so long...so you probably wouldn't want to hop on the shitlist so early either.
