VISITING American rapper Necro was tonight released by police after being arrested over his alleged involvement in an assault outside a cafe in Perth.
Police will reveal on Friday morning whether the New York artist faces charges.
Necro - real name Ron Braunstein - and another man were interviewed by police after a 27-year-old man was allegedly punched during a scuffle outside a cafe in Murray St.
The rapper had to cancel his show, scheduled for Thursday night before 400 fans at the Hyde Park Hotel.
Police media spokesman Greg Lambert said at 5.40pm that officers would provide an update on the case in the morning, adding "those of you who have bought tickets for the Rock the Bell tour of Oz and NZ will still get to see the gig''.
"I am not yet able to confirm that charges have been laid, but I can confirm there was an incident about 10.15am outside a cafe on Murray St,'' Sgt Lambert.
"It is understood that two men have walked past a 27-year-old man at the cafe and a verbal dispute has started that quickly became physical.
"A scuffle broke out and a man was punched in the face. He required medical treatment, possibly for a fractured cheekbone.
"Bystanders had to intervene to separate the parties involved. Two men walked off to a nearby hotel where they were later located by police.
"A 31-year-old and 32-year-old are assisting police with inquiries.''
A Hyde Park staffer said last night the gig was unlikely to go ahead - with signs still indicating the show was cancelled.
shit is funny, necro always busting up some dude...
