My Son wrestling at practice (FolkStyle)

I coach my sons wrestling team and decided to record some of the drills he was doing as well as some light wrestling. Hes only in 3rd grade but last year he won the SJWA Championships in his division. He is the one in black and yes i jacked the music from some of the Nick Diaz highlight vids on youtube haha.

No hes just a big Gracie Fighter fan. He wants to train there but its kinda far for us. He does have the DVD's tho so he practices on his cousin and other wrestling teammates haha.

He enjoys it alot. I live in a small town now in the central valley so our program is real small. Its only been around 3 years. Alot of the programs out here are year round, so im pleased with how well he has come along to be winning so much. He actually took 2nd place 85lbs division at his last tournament and he only weights 67lbs. We got a big tournament this sunday in Oakdale if he wins there he will qualify for state.

Hey Monstavilla did you wrestle before? Reason I ask is because I eventually want to have a career in some kind youth sports/martial arts instruction. Whether it's being a wrestling coach to opening my own brazilian jiu jitsu school some years down the line that's what I want to do eventually. Only wrestling experience I have is a couple semesters of the wrestling program at Skyline College(which is dope as fuck if you haven't checked it out do so the instructors have worked with a bunch of the big name fighters out there), but my overall years of grappling and BJJ is 5yrs+.

Ya I wrestled in Jr High and High School untill i fucked off and couldnt make grades anymore haha. When i was growing up they didnt have many youth programs as they do now. The youth programs start from k-8th grade. We have wrestle under the USA Wrestling and SCWAY programs. You have to pay a club fee every year as well as every kid has to have a members card to which ever program you choose. For the younger kids we tend to teach the basics over and over again. My son and a few others that take it serious we get into the more advance moves. Plus im not goin to lie im a asshole to my son, he has to work harder than everyone else. I love coaching the kids tho. When they do place and get a medal they get so happy and come up and thank you, it just feels real good.

SLR even if you have a girl you should have her wrestle. You would be amazed on how many girls show up to these tournaments and smash on the boys.

GOOD SHIT MAN...MY SON IS A FRESHMAN IN HS AND HE WRESTLED THIS YEAR AT A TOP RANKED SCHOOL(SERVITE HIGH)IN A TOUGH DIVISION. HE TOOK FIRST IN 4 MEETS AND PLACED 4TH OVERALL IN SOUTHERN CALI FOR FRESHMAN IN A TOUGH WEIGHT CLASS (170'S). I BROUGHT HIM UP IN MARTIAL ARTS. HE WAS IN A PANCRASE TOURNAMENT WHEN HE WAS 7, DID A YEAR IN KARATE, USED TO GO WITH ME TO MY GRAPPLING SESSIONS,AND TRAINED BOXING WITH ME SINCE A LIL KID.

I CAN HONESTLY SAY HE'S A BADASS BUT HE ISNT ALL ARROGANT OR ANYTHING.

WHEN I GET SOME TIME I'M A UPLOAD SOME OF HIS HIGHLIGHTS...HE RAGDOLLED ALOT OF DUDES.

Keep him involved and keep him active. That shit goes a long way in life.....being in competitive sports.

I would have like to seen him in a down position. Most shots they were neutral and he dominated. The last 20 seconds of the video it looked like the other kid tried to make a move and your son just brought him back to reality!

Thanks for peeping out the video. Ill try to video tape more when i can. Only a few kids showed up that day so i was able to just work with them while the other coaches worked with the other kids.
