M-Dash - Po, Broke and Hungry
1) "Sperate the Real"
A little bit of talking to start the song with then M-Dash starts the album off with a hard flow. He talks about seperating out all the fake rappers from the real rappers. Mo Love supplies a decent beat. I like M-Dash on the mic with his unique voice. The beat could have been better, but still a good start to the album.
2) "The Bay Never Left" ft. San Quinn
A tight beat laid down by Tatem1 to get things started. M-Dash starts it off on the mic with a coo flow, I like this flow better than the first song. San Quinn comes tight on the mic with his verse, he also does the hook nicely. Both rappers rep the Bay rap scene. One of my favorite songs on the album, I'm feeling it to the fullest.
3) "Can't Let Go" ft. Tweedy
I'm not really feeling the beat by Mo Love at all. I don't like the pace to the song and the background sound is a little annoying to me. M-Dash puts down some solid flows on the mic. Tweedy lays down the chorus with her soft female vocals, she's ok, but I've heard much better female background vocals. M-Dash is the best part of this song. I'm not feeling much about this song, should have used a different beat and a different hook.
4) "Ridin' & Smokin'" ft. Cellski
Tatem1 lays down a tight beat that gets your head moving to get things started off right. M-Dash starts the song off with a tight flow. Cellski comes alright on his verse, but I'm feeling M-Dash better. Cellski also does the hook, but I'm not a big fan of it he just says the same few words over and over again. The beat and M-Dash are tight as fuck though, they just talk about riding, smoking, pimping and thuggin.
5) "2½" ft. Tilt
The other half of NBD spits a little something on this song. Tatem1 does the beat again, I'm not feeling it as much as the first two beats, but it's still solid and has a good bass line to it. M-Dash comes tight on the mic. Tilt comes solid too, I'm feeling M-Dash a little more though, but together they make a good team. A solid song overall.
6) "The Left Coast" ft. Rux, Young Dru
Not really feeling the beat by Mo Love for this song. Both Rux and Young Dru make for ok features, I'm feeling M-Dash much more than either of them. Again though I think the beat needed to be changed, I'm not feeling Mo Love's production so far. Might have been best left as a M-Dash solo song. A decent song overall.
7) "Dollar Signs" ft. Mac & A.K., Tweedy
Not the best beat by Mac Pacino I've heard, but it has a solid feel to it. M-Dash starts it off on the mic with a solid verse. Tweedy does a better hook than the last one she was on, but I think A.K. should have done the chorus. Mac and A.K. make for two tight features. Both of them work well together with similar styles on the mic and they mix well with M-Dash. They talk about making that money no matter what. A good song overall, not the best one on the album but a solid song to knocc.
8) "What U Waitin' For" ft. Reepa
The first beat from Mo Love I'm feeling. It has a bit of a dark feel to it. M-Dash starts it off with a solid verse, I like his spit on the hook too. Reepa comes solid on his verse. I think the song would have been perfect as a solo song, but it's still a tight track to bump.
9) "Po, Broke & Hungy"
The beat by Mo Love is ok, not as good as the previous track. M-Dash talks about being poor, broke and hungry and struggling to survive. The title song has a good sound to it and M-Dash again comes solid on the mic. A good song overall.
10) "I'm a Hustla" ft. Young Dru
Not feeling this beat as much as some of the other Tatem1 beats on the album. M-Dash starts it off with a solid flow on the mic. I'm not feeling Young Dru at all though, he does the hook to the song. This song would definately have been better as a M-Dash solo song.
11) "Do It" ft. Marsh Nut, Mo Love
Mo Love lays down a solid beat for this song, probably one of the best beats he lays down on the whole album. Marsh Nut starts it off and spits an ok verse. Mo Love does the hook to the album nicely. M-Dash spits the better verse on this song. I think he should have left Marsh Nut off of the song. A solid song overall though I'm feeling it a lot.
12) "Riskin' it All" ft. The Game, JT The Bigga Figga, Mista Cane, Tilt
This beat by Tatem1 is tight as fuck, probably my favorite beat on the album. The verses by the features are the best on the album. The Game, JT, Mista Cane and Tilt come tight as fuck and M-Dash brings a good verse of his own. This is a tight ass song overall, I'm feeling it to the fullest.
13) "Sticky Icky Oooh" ft. Feelo aka Fa Sho
Not feeling this beat by Mo Love much. M-Dash talks about blazing up some sticky. I'm feeling Feelo a little more than M-Dash on this song, I like his style on the mic and he fits the theme of the song well. The beat still needed some work though, it's still a solid song overall though.
14) "Smoke On" ft. The Jacka
Not really feeling the slower pace of this song. Tatem1 lays down a different type of beat for this song, I'm not a big fan of it, but it has a good feel to it and fits the theme of the track. M-Dash starts it off with a solid verse. The Jacka has a solid verse, I think the slower pace fits his mic style well. A solid song overall, the more I hear it the more I like it. A little change of pace with more of that smoke talk.
15) "Jelly Fishes" ft. A-Wax
Mo Love lays down a solid beat right here. M-Dash starts the song off with a tight verse. I'm not feeling A-Wax's verse, but I do like him on the hook though. Might have been better with two M-Dash verses instead of A-Wax's.
16) "We Run This" ft. The Game, Sean T, !Prohoezak?
Damn another tight beat by Tatem1. The Game starts it off on the mic with a coo verse. M-Dash has the second verse and spits the best verse of the song. Sean T has a solid verse and !Prohoezak? handles the hook. A good song overall, I'm feeling it.
17) "Manipulation" ft. A-Wax, Rux, Stizon Skrilla, Tilt
Mo Love lays down another dark type of beat. Rux starts it off with a decent verse. M-Dash does the hook nicely. A-Wax spits a better verse on this song than the other he was on. Stizon Skrilla spits a solid verse and Tilt rounds off the features nicely. A decent song overall.
18) "Never Say No"
Mr. Maja does the production for this song nicely. M-Dash finally gets another solo song to spit on. He stays with the beat well and puts it down on the mic. I wish there were more solo songs like this on the album where he can really showcase his mic talent. This is a tight song overall, I'm feeling it to the fullest, wish more songs were solos like this.
19) "Legalize It" ft. Nocturnal Hustlers, Tweedy
A solid beat done by Indescent to get things started. Nocturnal Hustlers come tight on the mic along with M-Dash. I'm not feeling Tweedy on the hook though. They talk about legalizing that smokeaholic bomb. The hook needed to be changed though. It would have been coo without the chorus. A solid song minus the hook.
20) "Why"
Another M-Dash solo song. Mo Love does the production, he lays down a decent beat overall. This is the longest solo from M-Dash right here. He asks a whole bunch of questions about various things all staring with the word why. A coo song overall, not my favorite, but at least it's a solo track.
21) "Makes Me Wanna" ft. !Prohoezak?
Tatem1 lays down a solid beat for this song. M-Dash starts it off with a hard spit. The beat really gets your head moving. !Prohoezak? does the hook to the song with an ok spit. It's a solid song, the beat is my favorite part about it.
22) "Lord Please" ft. Mo Love
Mo Love lays down this slow paced beat, I don't like the clapping in the background though it doesn't fit the track at all. M-Dash spits an ok flow on the mic. Mo Love does the hook, but I'm not feeling him. Not really feeling this song to finish the album.
Overall this album was solid, but probably could have been better if the features were cut down a bit. I think the album would have been perfect if all the songs produced by Mo Love, with a few exceptions, were taken off. Tatem1 did a much better on production that Mo Love, I was feeling nearly every beat he made and hardly any that Mo Love did. M-Dash came tight on this album, but I was feeling the songs he did that had a faster pace to them. The slower songs were alright, but I think his style fits a faster paced beat better. The features were ok, but a majority of them needed to be taken off. M-Dash needed to make more solo songs, I like the solo songs he did and there were a lot of features that needed to go. There are definately some tight songs on this album, but I think this 22 track release could have been shortened to about 14 and would have been perfect. As is though, I found M-Dash a solid mic talent and getting better and better on each new project I hear from him. A solid CD that could have been even better with a few subtractions.
Overall Rating = 3/5
