Deco D - Prime Example
Album Art - Shemp did a cool lil cover with Deco's ad on a rusty billboard on the front of some buildings, the backs got em in front of a Frisco skyline backdrop with Bayways logo on a billboard as if it was the other side of this 1st one.
1. Intro - This intro's a good example of how to get the listeners juiced for the rest of the album. Mr. Peete was on production while Exact did the scratching and the shit came out clean as hell. It had some catchy samples from Deco and a less noticable from Quinn panned over to the right and mixed in over one hard ass beat, the bassline is on some star-warsesque shit & Bayway represents hard... it stomps.
2. "Show Stopper" - Peete on production again; this track starts off with the a beat running and Deco flowin, its a faster paced song than im used to hearing him use. He accustoms to it well, and touches on somewhat of a deeper message with lines like..." Well can you tell me who got the United States under attack/ God said dont worry bout nothin & just do your half/ but i see a perpatrator he'll think has the gift to gab/the World Trade wasnt shit/ people minds been collapsed". This is a solid track, i didn't know what to expect since everything hit at the same time at the begining but i was feelin it shortly after.
3. "Prime Example" ft San Quinn & Lil O - this is a nice lil beat by Icy Mike Beats that has a calypso flavor to it . Quinn starts off the track on some gangsta shit, he rips it as always. Deco shines on the 2nd verse, this is the deco im used to hearing and thats always a plus. Im not familiar with Lil O but he ends the song with on a good note with a tight verse.
4. "Ups+Downs" - This Peete/Ant Deeze beat is more upbeat than the previous. Its some funk 4 the trunk. Im feelin the flow, its consistant and on par with the beat. Deco's delivery is sick, vintage, this is the the type of shit i bought the CD for.
5. "I Like It" feat. Big C -This beats on some player/pimp shit with Big C doin the hook. The flows were good. For my taste there was a lil too much singin for a Deco-D song... its not bad, just wasn't feelin as much as the others.
6. "No Love" feat Andre Nickatina - Oh shit Nickatina comin out the cuts as soon as the track starts. Icy Mike laces this song, this beat is DOPE. The beat maintains this italian-type melody in the background. Nickatina rips shit up as he alternates verses with Deco who also flows well over this beat. Im feelin this the most so far, straight heat.
7. "No Squares" feat Duke Boyz - produced by Jeneral Lee n B Bumble. Another faster beat with Deco startin off and the Duke Boyz (J-Lee & Mac Wus) are keepin the pace. Solid track with exceptional flows but the hook coulda been a lil better.
8. "Its a Wrap" feat D-Moe - uggggggh Icy Mike Beats is a mothafuckin monster! This beats off the hook its got an eerie sound to it and D-Moe brings the heat to kick off the song, i haven't heard dude in a while and he didn't disappoint. Deco's on point again, he has yet to let me down on this album... This is one of the more heated tracks.
9. "Captain Stack a Grip" - This is another hustla/pimpish song produced by the homie that hooked me up with this CD, Eddie Fresh (thanx mayne) with additional keys by Mr. Peete n guitar work by Armand Navarro. Im really feelin this beat. In comparison to "I Like It" im feelin this way more. The guitar in the background is tight and Deco just dont stop he's been on fire this whole album so far. Big C is on the hook once again and its clean and fits well.
10. "Some Dudes" feat Say Crisiss - haha man this beats crazy.... definately not what im used to hearing Deco flow over but it does well. I dont know who Say Crisiss is but his vocals go over well with Mr. Peetes beat. Deco is risin to the occasion again, his rythym on this track is a lil different than the earlier ones and its sick.
11. "Groove" - Slower paced song with Icy Mike on the Beat again, some cool shit to smoke to. Big C is on the hook, its smooth shit, sounds good. Flows are all good, shits real chill, kinda song u get lost in when your high as fuck.
12. "Double Trouble" feat Mac Wus - Beat by Icy Mike got an Indian guitar sound to it. Mac Wus comes sick as hell on some pimpish lyrics followed by a loud ass gunshot leading into Deco's hook and into his verse, its heat... at first his vocals are panned to the left until he reaches the end of his bar and it switches to both, this is raw, im fully feelin this song.
13. " Gaming" - The beat is on some excorcist type shit from Icy Mike, this shits dark and its hard as fuck, i was waitin for a track like this to come up, when Deco gets on beats like this its always somethin vicious. Deco comes as hard as the beat is the hook got Deco panned to the left and a tweaked demonic version of his voice off to the right, its fitting to this track.
My thoughts on it.... i expected a lot but DAMN. This is honestly one of the solidest albums i've bought in hella long. Deco didn't come weak on ONE song, i usually got at least one song to flame on most albums but not this one. The production is monster, with Icy Mike Beats standing out, as well as Mr. Peete adding some variety. The features are frequent but dont disappoint, especially Nickatina, and D-Moe who came hard on their songs. I thought Surgery On the Game was a good album too but this is a huge step up and you'd be a fool not to cop this, trust me.
