i just picked up the negociation and i'm a little bit disapointed.this cd doesn't have the Jay tee sound that i like. You know funky production with good chorus done by singer, party track ...
I don't say that big ice is bad but it's not your sound,i think this cd should have more k-lou &johnny z productions.
jay tee ,i want to have your opinion on my thread.
thanks

whaaaaaat? Big Ice has HEAT he's the BEST producer in the world to me. Jay Tee flows perfectly with him ánd Free Agents was my FAVOURITE album this year. But I'm feeling you for speaking your opinion, give the cd another spin. Free Agents is tight!

Since i did two tracks on that album and you didn't feel them, i would like to know what exactly you didn't like with my beats/ production.

Thanx for the props Baby Nicky!

about free agents

first,i'm a real jay tee fan,i have all his album and for me his best album is the golden state.i like what he has done in the past and n2deep is my favorite rappers.
How you can say it's the best album of the year, the only song that make me move is the solo of young dru(i think that's the 11 or 12).where are the bumpin' track ,you know like "all night","on tha every day","get high","whoo' ride","v-town"....
40ounce was the only bay aera label that keep bringing funky sound like back in the day(for me 1995-1996 are the best years for westcoast sound) it explain why i am so critic with free agents.but i hope that jay tee is going to be better.
Big ice i have nothing against you,i like "vamanos" and other track you have done but you should do 1 or 2 song per album because it's not the 40 ounce's style with chorus and bumpin'beat.
Tell me what do you think about my opinion.

man, I own all N2Deep, Jay Tee, Latino Velvet, Playas Association and pretty much everything Jay Tee is on and how can you say Big Ice's beats ain't slumping? they got that funk sound alllll over it and quite frankly his beats sound way more bay area than any other cat out there ... you ain't knowing, man really I'm not trying to start a beef or something I respect yo opinion I'm just voicing mine, Big Ice got heat in my opinion period

By the way :

40 ounce's style with chorus and bumpin'beat.
lol, every song has a chorus you know ... but I'm sure you meant a sung hook, well Big Ice produced a lot of songs with a sung hook in them you should check more of his work .. can't nobody mess with Top Notch Hoe, We Ride Hot Cuzzin, Vamanos, man peep game

I respect your opinion, but i just think albums are better when there's more producers involved than just one or two. Personnally i really dig the Free Agents album, cause DJ Mark 7 laced that album with some of the tightest tracks. Weight On My Shoulders is just straight HEAT!

Y'all ain't knowing about Johnny til you heard is alternative production instrumentals he did, ya know, Huck Off. K-Lou never really got my attention, mostly just Mark 7, Johnny & Big Ice got my listening and Happy P does some nice slow jams for basherini

Ohyeah and Ant Banks, Mike Mosley & Sam Bostic for their E-fo'oh stuff, heated!

I agree wit Big Ice... I like it even more when there are much more producers on a album... its more refreshing then, I think.
You can see it on some of the SPM CDs where mostly Happy P did the production - the beats get boring after a while.
Yeah... I think an album with different styles from different producers should be best...

So peace out...

Youngsta, I respect your opinion. This wasn't a Jay Tee, Latino Velvet or N2DEEP project, so that is why it didn't sound like those. This was a Free Agents album, and we wanted a more deeper feel to the album. Every album I do, I try and change up a little bit from my last release. High Caliber has a different sound than Free Agents, but it is also different than "So Cold". Give the album a few more listens. Later, Jay Tee...

Cats grow up man...Music progresses...If we KEPT makin shit that sounded like 93-95 Bay material then we wouldn't be taking this shit any further! Only SO many songs can be done about "partyin an drinkin"...na'mean?

Opinions are respected tho and I appreciate the fact you gave it a listen. Hopefully in the future there will be some more shit that you WILL enjoy!

pe@ce,
Mark

Big Ice drops heat!!

I like to say i like Big Ice's Productionz, I like the Free Agents cd, but i really liked the Velvetism, And Big ICe also did alot of tracks on that , which is str8 Heat!!! aND I ALSO Agree that a cd should have more than a couple of producers, so u won't get that same sound all the way through the cd, Big Ice, Johnny Z, K-Lou, Happy P, Dj mark 7, Insane mexican, and others are all tight....
40 ounce is doing they thang, keep bringing the dope music Jay Tee, and Big Ice, i got love for ya dogg....

Wicked One

how u get all these fans from different countries, Jay Tee? this like the 5th one i seen on here
Make that the sixth.
Jay Tee your album with Baby Beesh "Velvetism" was excellent, a little short but solid. Vamanos is a classic and I am really feeling the track with Miami "On one". The whole album's a gem. I think you and beesh should get down with cisco and drop a comp album. One of my favourite tracks right now is "Lace me up" from the "Almost famous comp". (Does that song originate elsewhere or was it made especially for this comp?). It took a while to grow on me but shits dope.
