The dust mite is most common cause of allergic rhinitis and asthma. A dust mite is a microscopic, eight-legged insect. More than 100,000 dust mites can be in a single gram of dust. People are not allergic to the dust mite itself, but to dust mite feces. Dust mites eat the microscopic skin dander found on people and animals, then leave droppings. Each dust mite can produce approximately 20 droppings each day. Dust mites are found on people, animals and on almost every surface in homes, including carpet, upholstered furniture, mattresses and box springs, sheets and blankets, pillows and stuffed animals. When dead dust mites and dust mite droppings become airborne and are inhaled, they may produce an allergic reaction.

Wherever the relative humidity is greater than 50 percent for some time of the year, dust mites thrive. Dust mite females can lay 25-50 eggs during its lifetime of two to three months. They make their nests in dark, warm, humid environments, which makes beds and bed covers the ideal host. A dust mite's favorite food is shed scales from human skin. A single bed can have more than one million dust mites.

An allergic person's system produces an allergy antibody (IgE) in response to dust mite allergens. For an allergic individual, an allergy antibody is a fuse that ignites an "allergy bomb"--cells that release histamine and other natural chemicals triggering allergic symptoms. Histamine can be released anywhere in the allergy-prone victim's body. Symptoms of allergic rhinitis (an allergic reaction of the nose and sinuses causing swelling and inflammation) include sneezing, runny nose, itchy and watery eyes, cough and sinus headaches. Symptoms of asthma (an allergic reaction in the lungs) include difficulty breathing, wheezing and coughing.

anyone heard of this shit......

No, they live anywhere dust is...and thats anywhere a human is...

I hate thinking about that shit cause I'm sure I sleep with a gang of 'em. I know that you can get those hypoallergenic beds now, that they cant live in. Also the sheets & shit too...they can't live on that type of material. I think I'm gonna have to do that...cause I can't stand thinking of the little fucks.

every home has dust mite, and we sleep with them. Bedrooms is the number one spot where this lil fucks like to be in. Your bed is the dust mite's favorite place because of the high humidity generated by the sweat from your body and the abundant food source your skin particles. They live in mattresses, bed pillows, blankets and other stuffed bedding items like comforters, which provide the best conditions of warmth and humidity. Not many people are allergic to the mites but there are a few who are like myself.

I just got one of them tempur-pedic beds that they can't live in/on...it's a really nice fuckin' bed.

One of the best investments I've made.

Supposedly your bed/pillow can double in weight over the years from all of the mites and droppings. You can have millions living in them.

Imagine sleeping with millions of these things every damn day.

uhhh...but they lay eggs you know.

"The average life cycle for a male dust mite is 20 to 30 days, while a mated female dust mite can live for 10 weeks, laying 60 to 100 eggs in the last 5 weeks of her life. In a 10 week life span, a dust mite will produce approximately 2000 fecal particles and an even larger number of partially digested enzyme-infested dust particles."

Of course not every bed/pillow will have millions...but it may. You never know.

Be prepared to pay a grip! I paid $3,700 for mine.

But I also got the Delux Queen...with the adjustable upgrade...so you can lift the head and feet with a remote, and it vibrates.

You can get the original basic that will probably cost around $600-700.

Cool...I think I'll be find with the $700 one. Those are hella comfy.

Have you been getting deeper sleep since you got it...? Thats my main thing. I might only get like 6 or 7 hours of sleep a night, but I want them to be quality hours of sleep !
