Any of yall still listen to his music? I think after Dogg Father I stopped listen to him. He just got weak to me, his flows and delivery is too simple. I don't know, he's just gotten too commercial for me I guess but I'm not knoccin' him. One thing about that nigga Snoop is niggas from everywhere listen to him, he be all on commericals and shit lol. I think with that much influence he can help a alot of west coast artist get more expolsure. That niggas always talkin' about Cali, but shit show us some love, a couple projects w/ valley, southern cali, and bay niggas would do us some justice right now. That shit would sell based on the fact it's "snoop presents". Real shit, any of yall feelin' me?

P.S. He's been kinda quiet lately so we should be seein' an album from him soon..

b please.

yea, but that's what i'm talkin' bout. he keeps it in the southern cali. if you think about how many northern cali niggas do he be puttin' on his albums, close to none. if i went to the east coast right now and told them i was from cali they'll ask me if i was from la off the top, guarenteed. i was over there and it's just like that. kurupt, dj quicc, tha eastsidaz, bad ass, etc.. are well known names over there just cause they from southern cal. it's bigger than la, i want the whole state on the map.

Whens the last time the west coast put out a banger (compilation) of just all west coast niggas.. from the la, valley, to the bay??? i'm talkin' about a project from a well known nigga like E-40, Dre, Too Short, Snoop, etc.. I'm tellin' you man, them niggas on the east coast is united gettin' money, makin' mixed tapes and shit w/ underground and mainstream rappers. Shit, even the South!! The last comp I can remember comin' out the west w/ niggas from all over was E-40's Southwest Ridaz

Here's a brief critique of Snoop's CDs...Just MY opinion, though...

Yup. DOGGYSTYLE was a classic, and something Snoop'll probably never duplicate.

THE DOGGFATHER isn't as bad as folks said in '96--I think it might have just been...rushed. There were some dope songs, though ("Blueberry", "The Gold Rush", "Groupie", "Freestyle Conversation" and several others I can't think of now)...It ain't great, but it doesn't exactly suck, either...

DA GAME IS TO BE SOLD was wack, though--Snoop was rapping all laid-back among the No Limit screamers (i.e. Fiend, Mystikal, Silkk, etc). ROLLING STONE said that Snoop on No Limit was like a lone new Lambourgini parked next to a bunch of mud-covered jeeps (LMFAO!) and that was the case here.

NO LIMIT TOP DOGG's the closest Snoop's come to doing a dope solo CD since DOGGYSTYLE--the production (Quik, Jellyroll, Dre, etc.) was funky...Snoop (or someone) decided that he needed to stick w/ West Coast-sounding production/lyrics, so Beats By The Pound's leaving No Limit in '99 worked in Snoop's favor (on this CD). When folks ask me if there's any other Snoop CDs worth buying after DOGGYSTYLE, I usually mention this one...

By THE LAST MEAL, though, No Limit had entered their "party-and-bullshit" phase (which continues to this day), emphasizing skimpy two verse songs, and Snooper was at the end of his contract. The production was kind of retro-funky, but the lyrics seemed underdeveloped to me. I still have yet to sit down and actually buy and/or listen to PAID THE COST..., and I don't know, maybe someday I will, but from what folks have said here, I don't suppose that I'm missing much...

PEACE!

Yeah, your point is just like mines, the West Coast was so deep back then until after Pac's passing and about a year or so many East Coast artists were getting so much exposure like Biggie, Puffy, Jay-Z, Nas, Wu-Tang to 50 Cent today. And also cuz of Snoop's glorifyingly flamboyant style, he attracted a lot of mainstream attention including the motion picture industry. He's doing so much stuff that not many West Coast gangsta rappers were'nt allowed to do. He's even fuckin wit the upper-class mainstream like Girls Gone Wild and Britney Spears. All that shit may have washed him up to be more mellowed soft as what I believe, that could be why his last album wasnt very good not even to be called a classic. Other factors contributed to the decline of West Coast gangsta rap culture and less publicity are the Law enforcement agency, record label conflicts, excessive bootlegging blamed by poor record sales, loss of many die hard fans ( so much bs excuses like if u aint from the streets u cant listen to gangsta shit, and majority of so-called hip-hop rap fans are just mainstream audiences, and they like Snoop or Dr. Dre or EMINEM for instance, but never heard of better west coast rappers like E-40, C-Bo, Brotha Lynch, JT, Mac Mall or even Ice T, but the majority would still say the only west coast rapper they bump other than Snoop is Pac cuz hes a legend from the west coast as well as the biggest name in hip-hop. And other fans claiming that they know the West coast underground rap are just a bunch of hip-hop backpackers who just dig only hip-hop and never touching local hip-hop and rap moguls like Mitchy and Jayo felony and among others) So is all a bunch of bs excuses they commend. That just some suggested theories and I bet others are just thinking the same theories I came up with... Who knows whats hiding behind the reasons of this whole debateful situation of the present day rap culture...

also he switched up his voice after doggystyle he sounded like he was talking instead of rapping
he also lost D.O.C. who helped him write his lyrics and judge his work
