don't use 'em at all breh. Thanks for the thoughts though.
There's not really anything "exclusive" anymore. What will have something at 7am, I-L will have it by 7:30, Sordo and any other scene stragler will have it by 8, and all the scene release sites will have it by 9. And if you can't find it on any of your regular sites, google it and you'll find it on a random ass blog.
Scavenging for music is dead. Viva la internet.
If you aren't very particular about the quality of music, which most of us--including myself--are not, then you are correct. But there are many benefits otherwise to having an account at
what. For instance:
1. When you find the album you want, you have the option to download it in one of several different formats. For example, the
Zombie EP by The Devil Wears Prada will yield the following results:
This is just an example, there are other formats in addition to these, such as ogg Vorbis (whatever the hell that is). And in the event of a reissue, the same will apply. But these types of particulars will not be important to the average user who just wants a copy, and for it to sound "good".
2. The quality of the music is near perfect. Any known glitch in the release is deleted and reuploaded.
3. The speed is completely maximized. I download at about 1.5mb/s (which is my cap). Unlike most torrent sites where there is a lack of willing uploaders when compared to the "leechers", at
what, it is the opposite. Users are desperate to upload. So when you find what you want, it's likely to be 100/1 upload to download ratio. The downside to this, unfortunately, is that it's actually quite difficult to seed anything which affects your data ratio.
4. You wont have to worry about broken links. Sometimes there will only be a half-dozen uploaders to what you want, but it is almost always there.
5. They have applications in addition to music. It is hardly the focal point of the website, but you will usually find what you want, virus-free, at
what.
6. They have bundles of music that either are not found at other
http sites or would be difficult to download at such sites. For example, I downloaded the entire Beatles discography (the one released through iTunes) in both mono and stereo.
7. The request system is much more effecient than at any other site. Again, people want nothing more than to upload something to you. That is of course, aside from getting music for themselves.
I could probably go on, but I think you get the point. Does any of this really matter? Not to the average user. To be completely honest, I probably get more from IL; because one thing is certain,
what is not really a place to
discover music, because there is really no direction. When I think of something I want and don't feel like spending too much time on it, I use
what and I have the album about 2 minutes after the thought enters my mind.
In conclusion, I'm not trying to sell you guys on joining, rather I want you to atleast understand that this isn't the average torrent site. Like I said before, if you wouldn't frequently use the site, then there is no point in accepting the invitation. But if this is something that you're truely interested in, then let me know and I'll hook you up.
