Every time I flip through the channels, it seems that "Rubberband Man" or whatever song is playing on MTV. I also noticed that they censor the word "Taliban". WTF type of shit is that? Is Taliban a bad word now? I think it goes something like, "Rubberband man, wild as the taliban".

Why would they censor that shit out? MTV was supposed to be the "edgy" and hip channel that wasn't like everything else on TV, but it appears they have become just another Fox or NBC.

Editing out 1 word doesn't make them just another station like Fox or NBC.

For many in America, the war is a touchy subject.

Guess they don't want some rapper saying he's wild like the people we are at war with? I don't know...I don't work for MTV.

MTV is still pretty "edgy" though.....

gpimp,

And then there was the editing at the Music awards when there was a "scuffle" between the dog on Conan O'Brien and Eminem. Why would they edit that shit out? It's a freakin puppet!

Plus, you can turn to any news channel and here the word Taliban about 20 times a day. Maybe they should "beep" it out.

"Today in afganistan, US forces advanced through the north and engaged in battle with the "Beep". It was a bloody battle, leaving 12 "beep" soldiers dead, and 5 americans injured."

Hey...I agree with you. I think the editing/censorship is way outta hand.

The only thing that I can think of is that one channel is geared towards the youth, and other towards adults. One is for advertising/entertainment, and the other is for information/news.

Maybe they feel that an artist that a kid might look up to...saying he's like the Taliban isn't so good...especially when we are at war.

I just don't think thats the case. If that were true, and MTV truly cared what kids thought, then they wouldn't show half of the videos they play. The messages kids see on the average MTV video is, "Titty, titty, ass, titty, titty ass, ass, ass, titty, titty, ass" and rappers talking about hoes/blingin/robbin/ etc. etc. etc.

Their doing it to avoid ending up like the many radio stations that are now facing hundreds of thousands of dollars in fines over "indecency" charges. Granted the word Taliban isn't indecent necessarily, in this day and age you have to cover your ass. I just saw that video on MTV and that word was not edited out, nor is it edited out on my radio station. What makes me laugh more is that in the Kanye West's "All Falls Down" video, they delete "white man" in the line "Drug dealer buy Jordans, crackhead buy crack And a white man get paid off of all of that". Now that's just plain retarded. Either way, it's an election year, people are all uptight and think they are moral all of a sudden so we as the media must comply or lose our jobs until it blows over. I got reprimanded for saying "tap that ass" and the word "tits" in the past month.
