Ivan Alonzo Newton
NEWTON Ivan Alonzo Newton (Mr. Ivan) entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, December 19, 2007 at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, GA after a brief illness. Ivan was 34 years old. He was the beloved husband of Tammie Meilleur Newton. Father of Charley Jackson and Keenon Ivan Varnado. Son of Betty P. Newton and the late Freddie Newton. Brother of Janaye P. Taylor and Jeffrey Pierce, Sr. He is also survived by his Godfather Ernest Watson, Jr.; nieces Janitra and Tamika; nephews Jeffrey Jr. and Brandon; great nephew TJ and Robert III; and a host of aunts, uncles, and other family members. Relatives and friends of the family, also Pastors, Officers and members of United Church of God in Christ For All People, Beulah Baptist Church, Pilgrim Baptist Church, Staff and members of the United Teachers of New Orleans, local Rap & Recording Artists and Rap & Recording Artist of Atlanta are invited to the Celebration of Life service on Saturday, December 29, 2007 at 11:00 AM at St. James Methodist Church, 1925 Ursulines Ave. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until service time. Internment will be held in Providence M. Park. Arrangements by Rhodes Funeral Home, 1728 N. Claiborne Ave.
