LAWNDALE ( KTLA) -- Diana's Mexican Food Products is recalling 42,000 pounds of chicken tamales because the label doesn't say the tamales contain whey.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service announced Friday that it had done what department called a routine inspection at the South Bay company's plant.
U.S.D.A officials say that whey is a known allergen and the ingredient needed to be declared on the label.
There are no reports of anyone becoming sick from the tamales and if a person isn't allergic to whey, the tamales are perfectly safe to eat.
The tamales were produced between February 2010 and Dec. 2, 2010 and were distributed to restaurants in California.
