I've finally gotten all my equipment up and running perfectly (or atleast the way I want it setup). But I have one question. For my drum patterns that I'm recording from my MPC, would running them through a mono channel be just as effective (if not more) than running the MPC on both the left and right (stereo) channels? I know that when it comes to using stereo samples that I've sampled into the MPC I should use both left and right, but will it make a different for my drum patterns?

The reason why I ask this is because I'm using an M-Audio Fast Track Pro as an interface with two XLR/analog combo inputs and I hate unplugging my mic to run both channels of the MPC, and vice versa.

If your using samples that have stereo effects on them, I would recommend running them through stereo channels. If you have drum samples that have no stereo effects, and are just raw samples, then save track space and run them through mono. Try it and see if you notice any major difference in sound quality, if you don't notice much difference, then your good to go. Most of my drums however have stereo effects on them and therefore I always use stereo channels. The only time I use mono is if I am exporting a track out of Cubase to be processed in Pro Tools LE where the tracks are limited. And even then I'll solo multiple stereo tracks that can be exported together, to save track space, before I even start exporting mono tracks.

You should be fine though running drum samples through mono.

Anyways Kavie, what's new? We should collab on some production, beats.

Peace.
