People forget Randy Moss is fucking 6 foot 4. We have no problem getting into the red zone. Once we got into the red zone our drives delayed and we settled for field goals. Do you know what kind of a matchup problem Randy moss

Did you see what happened to the NBA players and the lockout? Many players looked terrible, and it took them time to get back into rhythm. Football is not exempt from that. Missing an ENTIRE year of football can REALLY set a player back.

Moss wasn't very productive the 2 years leading up to his "retirement", and that was 3 years ago.
Worst example ever! the NBA players at one point thought there would be no NBA season. So of course they weren't going to get in game time shape in a few days. Randy now has 6 months to get ready including 4 pre season games. The NBA also made their players play back to back to back days within the first weeks of the season. 66 games is a big difference from 16 games and if he doesn't get into shape until week 4 of the season who cares?? we have nothing to lose we signed him to a contract with very little to no risk. Our WR core is mediocre right now, especially now that Ginn and Morgan are gone. Its not like we are the steelers or the giants and he is taking reps away from other more valuable receivers on our squad. Also I didn't see one 49er fan in this thread claiming randy was going to "ball". Most 49ers fans just seem happy to have a legend like Moss wearing the red and gold. Big difference from the seahawks thinking Sidney was going to kill it for them so they gave him a 41 million dollar contract and are now stuck with him while randy getting 2 million. With the way our cap falls Ill take randy at 2 million over Sidney at 41 million.

I don't think the 49ers, or any of their fans, expect the Randy Moss of old or even the Moss of a couple years ago, but seems like Tony is expecting that. LOL @ "who can cover a motivated Moss one on one".

At the end of the day, because of his size and speed, he is still going to demand a safety over the top on him when they see him take off at the snap. And will most likely always warrant a double coverage in first and goal situations.

I'm not saying he won't be an asset to the team, or is gonna suck, just not the all-pro WR that Tony is making him out to be where NOBODY in the league is capable of covering him one on one.

Yeah I feel you. I'm not expecting anything like 2007 stats, but I know the raw talet he has added with his size will be a contribution to our passing game, especially in the red zone

I'm going to have to agree with the breh-goon Nine2Five on this one..

I've said it from the get, Alex Smith doesn't have it in him to win championships, let alone a SB ..

limited QB's like him should only be backups..

Yes sir..... if not then Randy Moss will be in a one on one. We've seen plenty of times what Moss does to teams that leave him in one on one coverage.

If Moss is on, motivated, and isn't causing any stupid distractions then look out...

its gonna be a make or break season for moss. i dont mind though as the pros outweigh the cons of this deal especially since we arent paying megatrons money to moss, so it all good.
He could take away all the focus off of vernon davis and crete one on ones for both of them. I also think this will open up the game for the slots, kyle williams will redeem himself next season...i hope
The younger receivers will also benefit from this (depending what kind of attitude he comes to the orginaztion with), weve all seen what he can do and im sure noone expects him to repeat, but a strong determined season is all i ask for

The 49ers assumed very little financial responsibility with the Moss signing, so it's a win-win, IMO.

I'm hoping maybe he can show our young recievers a thing or two, and even at 80% of his former self, he's still someone that must be accounted for.

He's obviously still got his speed and size, which were his main attributes. Hopefully he's motivated now, and buys into our team concept. I like this signing, but I really hope we can get Manningham. He's here in The Bay today visiting with the team.

GO NINERS!

Oh, and Raider fans, we just signed Rock Cartwright. I don't watch Raider games, what you guys think of that pickup? I'm assuming we got him to take the place of The God of Special Teams aka Blake Costanzo.

Cartwright is a solid special teams player. I would have liked to see him stick around

Yeah that Cartwright was good, he's a good ST ... great guy to replace Costanzo...

Morebass you looking it at the way I see, some people didn't agree with me...but I totally agree with you.

Moss wants to get his NFL Swag back and I think he'll do it with the 49ers..

all he needs is a great QB to go along with him..

No, Tony. You were trying to say NOBODY in the league has the ability to cover him one on one.
Well then who can? It's not like Moss has never beaten double coverage before. Let's see if defenses leave their corners on an island one on one versus "a mentally in the game" Randy Moss.
