I have the Event Ps6's(Powered) they sound clean, I am very satisfied with them. But like every monitor, a lot of them have different Characteristics. It also depends on the Room you're using them in. But overall like most monitors you get used to them after mixing on them for a while

That depends on what price range you're in, what field and active/powered vs. not.
What is your opinion on some Active nearfields ?????

Event, 2020 bas, or Event ps8's, KRK V8's, V6's, Mackies 624 + 824.... Is ther a clear champ in the 500 range - 1000 range....

I'ld go with the Mackie HR-824's without a doubt. In my opinion, those are the clear champ in that range.

Too Bad there usually $1400 up....... Any runner up that can play the full spectrum well... I had the Aleses MK 2's.... The mids were garbage and the bass was overkill....

The event 2020's are a little too light on the bass and I find that it leads to too much bass in your mixes. I used to boost my bass parts so that I could hear them in the 2020s, and when I listened to it on other sources, it was too much. Overall, though, they're pretty solid monitors. Not the best, but nice for a budget. If you really want to save on them, get the non-active versions for $300 and get an amp for $150. Not quite as tight as the active version, but hardly noticable.

depends

If you're goin for mixing or makin tracks. I got some yamaha ns10's that are the shit for mixin . I run em with a Genelec sub. Cool for tracks too. You could pick a pair up for around 5-600 , plus amp. every major studio will have a pair of these set up. I have heard the Mackie hr 824 and they are tight too for a little more.

i was wondering about that. how do you go abouts combining monitors with a subwoofer of a different brand/design etc..,

i wanted to get monitors with really good bass (8 inch woofer) but the only ones in my range are the behringer truth model and ive heard a lot of good but a lot of bad about them too. id rather get some good monitors that are maybe smaller and combine them with a subwoofer. heresy has recommended the ns 10's before as well. what is it about them that is so great. i believe someone told me that "the fact that theyre not that great is what makes them great" or something to that extent.

They pretty much have no bass. Midrange is a little high and depending on the amp you use , you might get a different response too.--
This is why I like em.--If you can get a mix to sound good on these, It's gonna sound good on anything. You can listen to a proffesional mix on these then compare it back to yours accurately. There's no added low end or high end, real flat. Some of the monitors out like the event 20-20 or hr824 give you a false low end . I run it with a genelec 1029a sub, it's an 8. Kind of lacking on the low frequencies, but overall ok. I run a digi 001 , so , 001 monitor outs to the patchbay y connect the sub, patchbay to the amp, amp to the ns10's ,there you go, my sub is powered so I have to set the amp to match it all up. Definitely check em out, You could swoop up on some from ebay for about 450-500, plus amp depending on your choice, 150 on up, decent sub about 400 of course you could spend alot more too.

1. your **ROOM** will affect the sound you get from your speakers. Example: Your room doesn't handle low frequencies that well or it doesnt translate the mids correctly. You'll end up mixing the vocals too low (mid range frequencies) and adding a gangload of unwanted low end to compensate for bass loss. Another example would be an asymetrical room and how it ruins the stereo image.

2. the speaker **PLACEMENT** will affect the sound you get from your speakers. Example: you have your speakers on their sides (or vice versa)when they were (*specifically*) made to go upright (or vice versa). Or you have your speakers in the corner when they should be at least 5 feet from the corners (to reduce trouble with bass frequencies because thats where they hide...in the corners), 3-5 from the wall behind them, at least three feet from each other and forming a leveled triangle when you sit down and listen.

The tannoy line is cool when you are in the 400 and up range. KRK is on point and so are the mackies that have been listed several times now. Personally I wouldn't recommend the NS-10's for you. Personally I would never mix with ns-10s again. I don't use subs either and thats a preference thing.

to tell you the truth all of the speakers listed will sound different in all of our rooms. My speakers might sound like crap in phils room while d-sanes speakers might sound like crap in Vince.v's room.

whatever you roll with make sure you LISTEN to them. Make the purchase based on your ears and what sounds good to you.
