SANTA ANA, Calif. (KTLA) -- Police arrested a mother on Thursday for allegedly having a sexual relationship with the 16-year-old boyfriend of her daughter, which resulted in a son.
Mayra Gonzalez, 32, of Santa Ana, was charged with multiple counts of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor and oral copulation with a minor.
Police say Gonzalez had a secret relationship with the boy over a span of five months last year. They allegedly had sexual intercourse at least six times.
Neighbors at Gonzalez's apartment complex alerted the boy's parents about the relationship, police said
Gonzalez told police when she was arrested that she was in love with the boy.
"She was aware of the fact that he was a minor," said Santa Ana police spokesman Anthony Bertagna.
Gonzalez is scheduled to be arraigned on Friday.
She faces a sentence of up to seven years and eight months in state prison if convicted.
