shit...i just got my mixer and i cant find the right levels to put it at for vocals. either it comes out distorted or too low. can yall help by puttin the levels i should have my shit at for average recording. like high, mid, low, aux, pan, gain, master, trim etc. i know its alot...lol, but it'd be a great help.

what are you recording to? a digital media or tape? i doubt your working with tape so depending on the system you have you can do the following :

track between -12 and -4db
track at -3 db
track at 0db (or just under 0db)

the RED led on your input can light up every now and then but if its constantly flashing you need to back off (reduce the trim or gain).

recording a bass sound is going to be different than recording a distorted metal guitar or a soft piano or string sound. so i dont think average levels or a pre set level is going to work.
