MIDI controller keyboard response is a bit delayed

Does anyone know how to fix this? I just got this midi keyboard from my homie and Im now using it to control my softsynths, but there is bit of a delay between my keyboard and the softsynth when i strike the keys.

Is this a latency problem or whatever? Buffer maybe? How do I know what to set the latentcy to?

Yes, it's a latency issue. You can try adjusting the buffers in your audio cards settings. If you're using a consumer-grade audio interface like a soundblaster or built-in audio on your mainboard, you're probably not going to be able to get rid of it. The only solution in that case is to either upgrade your audio interface or learn to live with the delay.
