I don't think there is a "best" mic out of them all, every microphone is different, they each sound different, are used for certain things, and have there +'s and -'s.

What is your price range

50 to $200? 200 to $500? 500 to $2000?

And, what is your main focus? studio vocal recording? or for live performances? maybe instrument recording? etc that all has to do with the type of mic to get.

"WHEN YOU MAKE ENTIRE THREADS DIRECTED AT ME THINK FOR A SECOND.....DO I HAVE THAT MUCH POWER OVER YOU? I WOULDNT DEVOTE A THREAD TO YOU AND HONESTLY I CARE LESS ABOUT YOU. WHY DO YOU ALLOW ME TO CONTROL YOUR MIND? WHY DO YOU ALLOW ME TO GET UNDER YOUR SKIN? WHY ALLOW YOURSELF TO BE MANIPULATED INTO MAKING SILLY THREADS AND POSTS? DANCE FOR ME FOOL.......DANCE FOR ME.......~HERESY"

MAKE SURE YOU GET SOMETHING THAT WILL BE ENHANCED (QUALITY WISE) IF YOU DECIDE TO USE AN EXTERNAL PRE LATER ON DOWN THE LINE. MICS AND MIC PRES SHOULD BASICALLY COMPLIMENT EACH OTHER. YOU DONT NEED WEAK LINKS IN YOUR RECORDING CHAIN.

ALSO IF YOU CAN FIT THE BILL GET A GREAT CONDENSER AND AN "OK" DYNAMIC MIC. PRACTICE GREAT MICING TECHNIQUES BECAUSE MOST OF THE TIME ITS ALL BASED ON WHERE THE MIC IS PLACED,WHERE THE VOCALIST OR INSTRUMENT IS OR THE ROOMS ACOUSTICS.

WHAT ABOUT COMPRESSORS? YOU GONNA USE THE ONBOARD COMPRESSORS OR EXTERNAL?
