Dear Joshua

Here's what it really comes down to: Not letting them get away with it.

When I wrote books like Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them, it wasn't just to make people laugh; it was because I was tired of seeing the right wing spin machine get away with it.

Because when they get away with it - whether "it" is branding leaders who don't support the war in Iraq as unpatriotic, or people against oil company tax breaks as "environuts" - our country suffers.

But the public is catching on. We can turn things around, but Democrats need more than the 51 seats we have in the United States Senate.

That's why I'm running for Senate in my home state of Minnesota and that's why I'm urging you to join me in supporting the DSCC - an organization dedicated to making sure they don't get away with it any more.

Click here to make a contribution of $50, $75 or more to help expand the Democratic Senate majority in 2008.

Every month, the DSCC sets an ambitious fundraising goal, carefully calculated to ensure our Democratic Senate candidates have what they need to share their ideas and beat back Republican attacks. The DSCC has a detailed plan for victory and the budget decisions they make are based on the expectation that we'll meet every single monthly fundraising goal. Thanks to your support, the DSCC hasn't missed a goal yet.

But now is the time to double down our efforts. There is a new progressive majority emerging in this country, but the GOP is already mobilizing a campaign of lies and disinformation to beat us back.

The Republicans know they can't compete with Democratic policies. They know that overwhelming majorities of the public want universal health care, a commitment to green energy, investments in our failing public schools and an end to this disastrous war in Iraq.

So, they are once again turning to the Rovian tactics that have won them elections in the past. But the DSCC isn't going to let them get away with it. They'll be there to respond to every lie levied against one of our Democratic Senate candidates, just as they did with our victories in the 2006 midterm elections.

Between now and the end of this month, the DSCC needs $500,000 to reach their April goal and they can't get there without you.

Click here to make a contribution of $50, $75 or more to help expand the Democratic Senate majority in 2008.

Now is the time for us to give it all we've got. My late dear friend Paul Wellstone used to say, "The future belongs to those who are passionate and work hard."

This is our time. This is our chance. Please do all you can.

Sincerely,

Al Franken

Trying to decide if I want to part from my scratch towards this campaign. I like Al Franken, hmm something to sleep on....

So hip hop is a liberal/democrat/socialist culture and it isn't reasonable for a christian/republican to be on a hip hop website?

Last time I checked there were 20 times as many hot boyz and snoop dog types as dead prez and immortal techniques.

Yep.

And you'll never see Snoop Dog supporting Bush/McCain either

So P-Diddy and Jay-Z are all about redistribution of wealth or in favor of any kind of equality that doesn't line their pockets green?

And you'll never see Snoop Dog supporting Bush/McCain either
His lyrics and behavior do. Should it really come as a surprise that the listeners of such music either initially sympathize with it's content or at some point come to agree with it?

No, it's not surprising since it does promote the whole get rich or die trying attitude. Still, even with the ultra capitalist values seen in hip hop, it's never been the thing to endorse conservatism or republicans, even the p-diddies and Jay Z's will drop leftist lyrics and associate themselves with progressive trends

shit got off topic, but Hiphop has never been down with any right wing movement in America. Even gangsta rap which has changed since the days of NWA where they were speakin out on police brutality and corrupted white politicians, still doesn't support any right wing movement. You listen to some C-bo, yeah he talks about getting money, but he still speaks on the bullshit 3 strikes law that was passed by manipulating voters on the death of a lil white girl. You listen to Snoop and you'll hear the same bullshit songs that he has to make to sell records, but you still hear him speak on white privilege in America.. I have never heard of a conservative or right wing gangsta rapper ever. If you can point one out, go ahead, but they always got at least one or two songs that attack the right wing neo cons of this country.
