McAlister to the Raiders?

Posted by Mike Florio on September 17, 2009 12:00 AM ET

Recently, free-agent defensive back Chris McAlister said that he'll sign with a new team on September 15.

It's now September 1817, and McAlister still hasn't signed.

According to the Baltimore Sun, McAlister was in Baltimore recently, and he told friends he'll eventually sign with the Oakland Raiders.

He possibly will move to safety, if/when he joins the Raiders.

The 1999 first-round pick has spent his entire career with the Ravens.

Chris McAlister: Report: Raiders want McAlister
Chris McAlister - DB - BAL - Sep. 16 - 3:28 pm et

Free agent CB Chris McAlister is reportedly telling people close to him that he'll "eventually" sign with the Raiders.
The fit's sensible, if only because Al Davis thinks he can turn just about any former first-round pick's career around. McAlister is 32 years old, has chronic knee issues, and wouldn't be a threat to Chris Johnson's starting job. Sep. 16 - 3:28 pm et

It worked with Rod Woodson....
Damn I thought Woodson was bigger then McAlister but he's actually 3 inches taller and 30 pounds heavier. I think if he can stay healthy, then he could really improve the Raiders defense. Its not a bad move at all because, whats the worse thats going to happen, he gets cut? At least the Raiders are trying to improve their defense, cant say nothing bad about a team thats trying to get better.

So I take it the Raiders realize that Huff is garbage and a bust? I was thinking the Raiders made one of the worst top ten picks (behind Alex Smith) in the last tens years when they picked him. I just remember when USC played Texas in the Championship, Huff was getting tossed around and ran over on almost every play. LenDale White loves Michael Huff.

Huff hasnt been doing well since we drafted him....He got a pick on monday night though....A nice pick diving for a tipped ball......He is not a run stopper, your right about that.....But in passing situations he has a nose for the ball....I know if he was in Stanford Routt's position when vincent jackson caught that ball.....Huff would have picked that shit......

Watching Huff at Texas and alittle on the Raiders, he's a great athlete but just not that great of a football player. From what I saw.

I think he become better playing alongside a good SS. Whats up with Mitchell, I thought he was suppost to be starting or something?

Raiders deny deal with Chris McAlisterPosted by Mike Florio on September 18, 2009 8:39 PM ETSigns have been pointing to the arrival of veteran defensive back Chris McAlister in Oakland, in part because: (1) McAlister has publicly said he'll be signing with a team; and (2) reportedly, McAlister has been telling friends that the team will be the Raiders.Former Raiders player Jarrod Cooper, who now works for CSN Bay Area, recently reported that a deal is coming.Coach Tom Cable said he knew nothing of the deal, which we'd expect him to say even if he did. On Friday, Raiders senior executive John Herrera called the report "totally untrue" and "nonsense," per Jerry McDonald of the Contra Costa Times. So if something was in the works with McAlister and the Raiders, it apparently isn't.into a verbal back-and-forth earlier this year. And, apparently, Crowder was feeling a bit left out, given the Ryan-fueled WWE smack-talk unfolding this week between the Jets and the Patriots. So Crowder has found a new target.John Taylor of CFT has the details. In other words, go to CFT so you can find out.Or you can Google "Channing" and "Crowder" and "douche" and "bag."
