Do NOT waste your $$$$$ on an mbox. I have a digi 002r and use 6.1 and cubase sx. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THE M-BOX.

The MBOX and 002R have different pre amps AND different converters so its IMPOSSIBLE to get the SAME sound quality with both. 88.2 and 96gk recording are possible with the digi 002r and IMPOSSIBLE with the mbox once again its IMPOSSIBLE to get the SAME quality with both units.
and for the price of an hd rig I'd take a digi 002r, external clocks/converters/outboard gear. :dead:
If it werent for my girl calling me talkin about she cant go to sleep you would NEVERget a response from me this early in the morning. I don't know of anyone here who uses it but youngmoe had a digi002 which is basically the same control surface when you really get down to it. Command 8 is usb powered and has midi. Most people say it's really directed at those who have a 002R.
Anyway the control 8 is a control surface. You can mix with it but I wouldn't call it a mixer because it doesnt have inputs, buss section,sends/aux, pre amps etc.
What exactly are you looking for, how much music do you plan on recording, how many inputs do you need and do you REQUIRE pro tools?
Also I wanna mention something about the mbox. Your inputs are limited with the mbox AND the latency caused by the mbox is insane. Not to mention you're running audio from your mbox to your computer via usb 1.

the only time u should use Mbox is if your low on cash and cant afford the digi002 rack

mbox only uses a 44.1 sample rate, so that mean if you got a session on a 002 rack and u used a sample rate of 96k and you want your boy who has mbox to mix it for you and you try to import the 96k session into mbox, it wont happen... mbox wont even recognize it. But you can bring a mbox session into a 002R
and you must have pro tools.

IF pro tools is a REQUIREMENT (I asked but didnt respond) and you're on a budget (less than $700) I would purchase a used 001 or purchase an M-audio interface and run the new pro tools app. Purchasing a used 001 might hurt you as support for the device has ended.
