matching #'s on an old school

wut does it mean when the "numbers match" on an old school ride? i'm bout to cop a 1963 impala convertible for $5,000. i wuz lookin in tha classifieds to compare prices, and cars that have matching numbers are worth more. can anyone help me out? preesh. fold.

matching numbers refers to the numbers of all the original parts from the factory. people rebuild old schools and put new shit on them. dont know if this helped but it was a try.

yea...matching numbers like seeing if the right engine is in there, ect...and seein if the vin # is correct...my cuzzo flipped a 72 chevelle ss w/o doin the research on it, and the engine was a 454 but it was suppose to be a 396...and the vin # came up as some old ass station wagon...haha basically he got a chopped velly wit a hyphee engine and a ss emblem slapped on it
