Vic Lombardi of CBS 4 Denver reports that the Broncos are now "95 percent sure" they will sign free agent Peyton Manning after he reached out to the team late Sunday night.
ESPN's Chris Mortensen and Adam Schefter also updated their Sunday night story to report that it's "highly unlikely" Manning will decide on a new team by Tuesday's 4PM ET commencement of free agency. So while the Broncos may believe Manning will sign with them, it doesn't sound like the move is imminent, and he's still in thought collection mode. Sources confirmed to Mort and Schefter that the Broncos and Cardinals are the two "favorites" to sign Manning. After a draining few days since his release from the Colts, Peyton is reportedly now "anxious to get some rest and return to his rehab and throwing regimen." Mort and Schefter also confirm a Denver Post report that the Seahawks and Chiefs are "no longer contenders" to sign Manning.
