Russell Hofstad, a 24-year-old man accused of skinning and eating a cat, pleaded guilty to burglary and animal cruelty charges on July 25.

Authorities said Hofstad told them he hit a cat with a stick, stabbed it and then skinned it with a butter knife, KPHO reported. Police also said he was wearing the cat’s tail around his neck on a rope.

He was sentenced to two years in prison and four years probation after he serves his prison term.

But that's not the worst - you should see what the regulations are for treating mice in research labs. You have to pamper them in all sorts of ways and you can only kill them with CO2. Meanwhile you can freely buy mousetraps and dispose of mice in your home in any way you want, and there is a whole pest extermination industry that does not exactly treat rodents in a "humane" way...
