The first took place when a gunman opened fire on a man pushing his bike near Michigan Street, inflicting non-life threatening injuries on the victim. The second Around 1:00 a.m., a shooter fired at least six rounds into a home on South Street, according to police.
At about 2:00 a.m., Laura McCarthy said she woke up when an armed suspect opened fire on her daughter's boyfriend just outside her home, wounding him in the leg and pelvis.
"I thought it was firecrackers," Laura said. "About five minutes later, my daughter said, 'I need the keys, Angel just got shot.'"
The victim was hospitalized and treated for his wounds, but when he was released about five hours later, he was attacked again.
An assailant was waiting for the victim when he arrived home, McCarthy said.

Manteca Police Officer Rex Osborn said the attacks on the man are connected and likely gang- and drug-related.

The victim was arrested Wednesday and has since been released. Police say potential witnesses connected to the case have not been cooperative.
