ORLANDO, Fla. -- An Orange County man was charged with animal cruelty, accused of having sex with his dog, deputies said Thursday.
Lazslo A. Horvath, 21, of Orlando, told investigators he had sex with his dog, Silvy, an 8-year-old female Whippet-mix, because he "was lonely," a report says.
The dog, which had other injuries, had to be euthanized, according to a report from the Orange County Sheriff's Office.
Horvath was arrested on Thursday.
According to a report, the investigation began when someone called CrimeLine in June to say Silvy was being abused. An animal services investigator checked and told Horvath the dog needed "immediate medical attention," the report says.
Horvath did take the dog to a veterinarian, but investigators said he left after being told how much it would cost. A officer returned to Horvath house, and Horvath signed over custody of Silvy to the animal services.
The dog was found to be in such bad shape, she was euthanized on June 4.
An Orange County sex crimes investigator was brought into the case, and Horvath was asked to come to the sheriff's office on Thursday.
Deputies told him they found DNA in the dog, and after some time, Horvath admitted he had sex with the dog, the report says.
He is being held in Orange County Jail pending a first appearance before a judge.
