THOUSAND OAKS -- A 39-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly paying teenagers to spit on him, among other things, sheriff's officials said.
Charles Hersel was arrested Wednesday evening after he paid a teenager $31 in cash to spit in his face, Ventura County sheriff's detectives said.
The arrest was part of an undercover sting.
Investigators say Hersel paid male Westlake High School students to yell profanities at him, spit in his face and slap him.
Several teens also told investigators that Hersel offered to pay them to urinate and defecate on him, according to detectives.
Hersel was booked into county jail on a child annoyance charge. He was later released on a promise to appear in court.
Investigators searched Hersel's apartment and computer and say he contacted his first victims on the social networking website MySpace.
They say it didn't take long for word to spread that the teens could get paid to spit in a man's face.
Anyone with additional information about Hersel's activities is asked to contact Detective Anthony Aguirre at (805) 371-8309.
