^I went through that awakening a few years ago myself. I listened to nothing but west coast and south rap and hated anything coming out of NY. I realized that its just thier big artists that are weak and theres some dope underground shit out there.
As for Premier though, I always thought he was way over rated. I really liked the old Gangstar albums, but the stuff he put out after Jeru The Damaja up until now never really moved me. I hate to admit it but that new Christina Aguillera song he produced is kinda tight...
