Girlfriend Had Been Trying to Dump Him
LOS ANGELES, Apr. 28, 2007 - What's a man to do if he wants to woo a woman but he doesn't own a car or possess a driver's license?
What 31-year-old Antonio Moreno did was allegedly steal 26 cars over a period of time in Inglewood and Hawthorne to see his girlfriend who lives in Santa Barbara.
Acting on a tip, police arrested the man last week. Police say he was using a simple device that starts Japanese cars of a certain age.
According to police, his motive was not financial but romantic.
Moreno is being held on auto theft charges in Los Angeles and then he will be transferred to Santa Barbara where he will face additional charges.
Unfortunately for him, police say despite his efforts, his girlfriend had been trying to dump him for weeks.
