Making a male voice sound like a female voice?

Nas did it on Live Now and Sekou Story off Street's Disciple.

I was thinking of changing the key (pitch change while maintaining the time), but that can get tinny sounding. And the Nas songs don't really sound tinny.

Your prolly gonna Have to compress the hell out of it to keep it soundin full in the higher registers, but that should work.

Nah my boy wrote a song with some female parts. He doesn't wanna get a female rapper, he rather do it like Nas.

I heard if you spend money for the right program or plugin you can get good pitch shifting with no tinny sound.

antares makes a voice plugin that does it i think.....i know Roland makes a piece of hardware gear that will do it but its like 2-300 bones.....
