SANTA ANA — Federal authorities have arrested two dozen men in raids targeting violent Hispanic street and prison gangs in Orange County.

Federal prosecutors also unsealed two racketeering indictments that together charge 40 people with using extortion and violence to control drug dealing in the county and in Santa Ana.
Alleged Mexican Mafia leader Peter Ojeda was among those arrested today. An indictment alleges three counts against Ojeda including racketeering, drug trafficking and methamphetamine distribution.
In a separate 22-count indictment, members of the Santa Ana-based Myrtle Street Gang are accused of extortion, plotting to kill rivals, and taxing other drug dealers operating on their turf.
All 24 arrested today were ordered held without bail.
