Half the time when doing an album cover for a major release that is mainstream the designer does a few minor photo touch ups then album layout, no design is really needed.

Well the designers most likely work under the label, also the artist is the main focus of the product so they showcase that, regardless, especially if its a female.

But yeah, you can say it's unfair, I'm sure there are many talented designers who diserve top spots and don't have them but it's who you know not what you know.

Even though it is simple I would say that the designer still took about 2 hours on the photo touch-up (depending on the equip used by the photographer) So whoever did it still put in work I'm sure.

my thing is...i dont think the photographer and the designer were involved...like the head of art direction for the label was at the shoot and they picked the pics that best fit...then chose the 'cover shot' and then gave that to the designer...
