Washington — A single Holstein on a Washington state farm has tested positive for mad cow disease, marking the disease's first suspected appearance in the United States, the Bush administration announced Tuesday as it assured Americans their food is safe.

"This incident is not terrorist-related,"-Ms. Veneman
ROFL

How does Mad Cow spread?

Scientists have learned that Mad Cow is spread by feeding cows, well....other dead:dead: cows.

Isn't feeding dead cows to other cows illegal in the United States since scientists have learned the cause of Mad Cow Disease from the European outbrake that killed over a hundred people and possibly many more?

According to a local Fox News station, technically it is illegal to feed them dead cows, however it is NOT illegal to use certain parts of cows, inluding blood and some fats.

In addition, Cows are being injected with incredibly toxic organo-phosphates (Phosmet) that render the cows entire body poisonous to pests. These toxins attack and mutate brain proteins and have been shown to cause the same degenerative effects as vCJD.

Hasn't the The United States Department of Agriculture stated that the US beef supply is safe despite the recent "outbrake?"

Yes, however for six months the agency repeatedly refused to release its tests for mad cow to United Press International. The USDA claims to have tested approximately 20,000 cows for the disease in 2002 and 2003, but has been unable to provide any documentation in support of this to UPI, which first requested the information in July.

IN ADDITION, FORMER USDA VETERINARIANS TELL UPI THEY HAVE LONG SUSPECTED THE DISEASE WAS IN THE U.S HERDS AND THERE ARE PROBABLY ADDITIONAL INFECTED ANIMALS.

Couldn't this have been prevented?

Yes, but unfortunately GREED and the ALMIGHTY $$$$ have once again stepped in the way.

come to think about it, which state is best known for cattle?? Texas. i bet bush had a finger in this. I think maybe his corperate friends in the cattle industry in the Texas area wanted to eliminate competition from Washington State.

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!

the following has NOTHING to do with THIS thread/topic but I wanted to address it here because I dont have time to make another post.

@mcleanhatch in that mike jackson thread (the one edj made) you quoted me and made reference to him being charged. MANY people have been charged with LITTLE or NO evidence.

1.Did you read the article? If so please post it.

2.If you cant post it do you remember what the FBI said about the case?

You guys can try to be cute all you want…saying that I am somehow implying that this is Bush's fault is ridiculous.

First off, I never stated that Mad Cow could be blamed on Bush, nor did any article I provided. That is an unreasonable assumption since Mad Cow was first discovered in the mid 80's.

Second, my thread consisted of three things: an article discussing the recent Mad Cow findings in WA State, Facts on how Mad Cow is caused, and an article on how poorly the USDA has been handling the situation.

McNugget, Tadao, and Phil. Instead of making little gay sarcastic comments, why don’t you offer something relevant to this thread? If you can’t think for yourself, here are a few questions you can answer. Do you feel that this is a problem or a potential problem? Are you aware how beef products are handled in America? Do you feel that the USDA is doing a fair and honest job?

I thought your first response to McLean Hatch's Affirmative Action bake sale thread was very relevant and showed what deep thought you are capable of.

If you are unaware, like you stated, of how beef products are handled in Amerika, then how can you say the USDA is doing a fair and honest job? How can you make such a claim if you already stated that you have no knowledge of the subject? Not making any sense McRibb.

Yes, I have heard that cow was from canada. Hmmm, but where did it end up? And how many other cows have been slaughtered for beef products or "donated" milk for us to consume that were "unhealthy"?

I was watching a local news report the other day, who obtained video of a "sluaghterhouse" taking in a cow that could not stand and was obviously sick. What did they do with this cow? Well, the same thing they do to all cows...Made it into this

Just because people aren't dying by the hundreds doesn't mean the USDA is doing their jobs. There are other studies that have shown that these hormones that are injected into cattle/chicken/pigs are dangerous to humans and can cause serious illnesses.

Again, you are speaking on a subject which you know absolutely NOTHING about.
