7/10
It's nowhere near YOUNG BLACK BROTHA or STUPID DOO DOO DUMB, but it's fun, and that counts for something. The lyrical vibe is that of dudes who are drunk and thizzed just having fun, and the beats sound like a cross between EPMD's early stuff and The Alkaholics' first CD (MD tried to repeat this vibe again on MAC DAMMIT MAN & FRIENDS, and it didn't work).
"Have You Ever", "Bleezies-N-Heem", "So Hard", "Always Into Somethin'" (with Sleep Dank, Da Unda Dogg and J.Diggs) "Chevs and Fords" (with Little Bruce), "Hold Off" (with Richie Rich), the freestyle whose title escapes me (with B.A., Keek The Sneak and PSD) and "Mac Drevious" (with the incomparable MIAMI!!!) are my favorites. The rest is mediocre, but MD being MD, it's cool.
Oh yeah--the BONUS TRACK is six minutes of sloppy, drunk/high-off-our-ass but hilarious, fun conversation between MD, Shouman, Suga Free and that nutball Miami! "Shouuu-MAAAAAAN! Little BrUUUUUUU-CEEEE!" cracks me up everytime I hear Miami say it!
If you're expecting politics and deep meaning, IT'S NOT WHAT YOU SAY isn't for you, but if you don't mind CDs that just set out to entertain, pick it up. PEACE!
