Taken from his livejournal...
After 6 years of record releases, including a laundry list of singles and collaborations, and two commercially released full-length albums, I’ve finally found a home worth moving into. I am proud to announce that on Monday, November 28, 2005, I signed away my life to Fat Beats Records. It’s a wonderful situation. I kill myself to make great music, and they keep all the money! In all seriousness, it’s really an honor to be with the oldest name in the indie rap business. I can’t tell you how great it feels knowing I won’t be out looking for a home each time I make a record. More importantly, this is first record label I’ve worked with that employs an actual staff of dedicated music lovers ready to assist in the promotional effort for my releases. I’ve committed to making my best album yet for this union, and I am anticipating this to be a significantly larger release than any in my history. I hope you guys are ready.
As a part of the announcement for this new partnership, I’ve been telling you all for some time that I would be sharing new audio. I’ve included a little sneak peek section of the album artwork with the new song. I hope you find that this preview of what J.J. and I have been working on is worth the wait. Picking up right where “Idiot Gear” left off, the first song from the forthcoming louis logic and J.J. Brown album, titled Misery Loves Comedy, is called “All Girls Cheat.” It’s a humorous examination of the male’s inability to fathom women’s taste for sexual mischief. As an interesting aside, those of you who are particularly well hipped to the happenings of rap world releases may have heard about Rhymefest’s pending debut album, which features a song of the very same subject matter titled, as luck would have it, “All Girls Cheat.”
Before anyone gets his big brain cooking on possible a conspiracy theory, let me just say that our position is that this is a complete coincidence. We don’t believe that there is any connection beyond sheer chance, and from our own side, we are quite comfortable saying that we had no prior knowledge whatsoever of the identical titles and motifs. However, we are not so foolish as to ignore the inevitability of people noticing and commenting on this bizarre bit of happenstance. We decided that the best way to handle this was to investigate the degree to which Rhymefest’s song has been heard and publicized, and then either cut our song from the new album, change our song title, or beat him to the punch. As you can hear, I opted to beat him to the punch. What the hey, you know? It’s gonna hurt him a lot less than it will hurt me if he were to put his song out first. So, here it is. I hope you guys love it.
Stay tuned because next week, we will share a new track comprised of 3 additional songs in snippet form to further whet your appetite for the long awaited Sin-A-Matic album follow-up. In the new year, you can expect to see a revamped version of www.louislogic.com with a more extensive bottleshop catalogue, including some exciting and improved re-issues, and the return of a newly improved line of louis logic shirts. We look forward to a spring release for the sophomore album, and hope you will join us on the subsequent supporting tour. Thanks so much to all of you for your continued support and patience. I can assure you we’ve only waited so long because we felt it was absolutely necessary to give you, the listeners, the very best we are capable of.
