Well, then look no further than the "Sonic Charge MicroTonic" VSTi plugin. This plugin rocks for creating synthesized kicks, or any synthesized percussion sounds for that matter. It's easy to create that 808/909 kick sound with this plugin. So for those of you who are looking to create those kicks that are so popular these days with club beats especially since they pitch the kicks up and down in place of basslines, I really recommend checking out this plugin.

The lack of basslines in new songs is really starting to piss me off. I don't know why. I'm not even that good at making basslines, or finding the right sounds, but I just get a little annoyed when it doesnt have a bassline, unless they really make the low end knock.

Yeah I know, I feel you on that. However, full out basslines just don't sound right with these club beats. And the reason I say club beats is because that's all that's out there right now and that's what the people want to hear. You just can't use an electric bass or moog synth type bass and play some funky bass notes or something, it don't have enough punch or dramatic feel for these Club beats. I think you have to keep it simpler with these new school beats, longer sustained notes layered with the kick if you do infact use a bassline and longer sustain/decay on the kicks. The longer notes create a dramatic feel. The sustain/decay on the kicks is what's taking the place of basslines, that's why the kicks are played like synthesizers and made with synthesizers, that way you can pitch them up and down. You just can't get the same sustain/decay and punch if it was a tigher more acoustic kick. The tighter, more round acoustic kick sounds more Hiphop IMO and nice when accompanied by a bassline, but whatever, it is almost 2008. Computers are taking over, it's the digital age. It's taking over everything, not just music creation. Whatever, you just gotta go with the flow I guess. I think I can make an easy transition to Club beats producing wise because I'm familiar with Trance, House, Drum N Bass, but I won't listen to any artists using Club beats, that's for sure, I don't like any atm. I still prefer that oldschool sound (G-Funk, Mobb, etc...) and that's what I like to listen to when it comes to Rap, but it does seem pretty d@mn extinct this day in age. :ermm:

Seriously though, I can understand why people like club beats. Their fast, their highly danceable (which creates a good club environment), their simpler lyrically therefore every dumbass and every blonde can understand and pick up on the hooks and they just bump. They still ain't got me convinced though, I only see this music as a tool, sexual tool. Girls love it, they don't wanna listen to and can't comprehend no Above The Law, Spice1, South Central Cartel, Killafornia Organization, CBO, Mc Eiht, Watts Gangstas, Brotha Lynch, etc...etc... It's too sicko. lol

LOL I feel you.

I do like the club beats but just not as much. they're only good for gettin hyped up, like u said at the right environment.

G-Funk and mob shit is the best. I don't think it'll ever die, but it just evolves. (well mobb shit, not really g-funk, that's like a particular sound). Like mobb shit now I think evolved into that Mob Figaz sound, Messy Marv on his latest albums. It's not really club music, but it's similar. Like this: http://youtube.com/watch?v=HQ_OvUPno_Q I think it's pretty sick but I get tired of it. I still like the older mobb shit better.

It didnt really evolve from the previous mobb sound with the huge bass and high synths and strings, but it's just the new sound for that style of artist. Like if everyone doing mobb shit back in the day was doin it now, they would use that kinda beat.

hahaha, I saw the subject line and was gonna respond that "Microtonic is a great plugin to make your own synthesized kicks.." but I see that's exactly what you're saying.

The step-sequencer is fun too!

That beat sounds good for what it is and I have made shit that sounds similiar to it since I do use a lot of Strings (even though I don't really care for that dramatic vibe). But I think those strings are just too dramatic like some orchestra shit, sounds like some Fort Minor. haha I also can't stand those little snare hits on the build ups, they annoy the hell out of me, the same with the organ. lol Mobb beats on the other hand, are a lot better I think. Their funky, actually have basslines and the synths sound sick not too happy-ish or dramatic. Can't forget that Mobb beats actually used the Piano, Guitar, Electric Bass as well, REAL Instrument sounds.

That little girl is cute though in that video. Makes you wonder what kind of Rap is being made these days, if little kids are getting into the mix. Whatever.

I personally can feel the faster club Dirty South beats more (Lil Jon style), than these types of beats that this dude made in that video. They pump you up more. I mean if your going to be using 808/909 kicks, Trance Sawtooth synths, etc..., you might as well make them fast and danceable.
