I'm looking for some flicks to watch with gorgeous backgrounds. Preferably not low budget and while they don't have to have an amazing story, at least something I can bare through. (romance movies are okay)

Looking for stories that take place overseas. Anyone know any films (good or bad) that take place in Corsica?

CB brought up a good list, try any Terrence Malick film, David Lean: Lawrence of Arabia, There will be blood. Werner Herzog has some good films with great scenery: the enigma of kaspar Hauser, and Aguiree: the Wrath of God , Wim Wenders: Paris, Texas, Peter Fonda: The Hired Hand. Kurosawa: kagemusha.

I'm not aware of any films that take place on that Island but you might want to check out Mindwalk, takes place on a French Island.

A US politician visits his poet friend in Mont. St. Michael, France. While walking through the medieval island discussing their philosophies of life they happen upon Sonja, a scientist in recluse, who joins in their conversation. The two men listen to the ideas of this brilliant woman and discuss how her ideas can work in their own politician and poet lives.

Also, I would recommend any Kim Ki-Duk films, great scenery and cinematography.

You need to check out Baraka if you're looking for eye candy.

The Thin Red Line
The just released Criterion Blu-Ray for this is fucking amazing....I'd also recommend Days of Heaven, which is another Malick film.

Check out the movie Winged Migration. There are some boring parts that are semi sleep inducing but there are some incredible scenes. It basically looks like they strapped up birds with cameras and let them fly around in some scenes. Pretty amazing footage.

Any of those Planet Earth DVD's or whatever they're called that were on discovery. Those were sick

What dreams may come for the colors and whatnot

I was thinking about mentioning Baraka but it's not a narrative film, at least one with dialogue, and main characters etc.

SPL/Killzone...Every shot has great scenery and the action is just as artistic...

The Myth as well, that traveled over the world with beautiful scenery..

Three Kingdoms: Resurrection of the Dragon if you want a rich environment with incredible drama..Red Cliff is a safe bet too..
