looking for a mic

I've never heard the NT1a, but we recorded some tracks years ago with a NT1 and I didn't care for the sound, but than again it was going threw mackie pre's which I dont care for either.
The C1 is a little bright and like most inexpensive mics it doesn't have the solid low's and mid's like high end mics, but thats to be expected.

it's all about taste once you get into the 500-1000 dollar range most of the time
i use a rode ntk
ghazi's pool room studios (one of the best quality spots in the bay) right now uses a Blue Baby Bottle
other cats got neumann's and still don't get the quality ghazi gets
so, yes, equipment has a huge thing to do with quality, but once you get into that high quality its up to the engineer and the vocalist...

id choose a neumann any day for my voice... but im not knockin blues.. shit i was able to acheive a great, almost perfect sound with a ksm27.. its always the engineer, cause you can spend 10,000 on a settup and still not get the sound you want.. trust me, i know a dude in my town that got about $20,000 spent on him, and he STILL makes yourshit sound like low quality demos....
what kinda mic pre are you using,,
the mic pre is equally and or more important then the mic itself
im using a blue baby bottle right now.. i usually use a blue mouse, <but its in repair>, which i dished out almost 2000 for when it first came out,,
i use a focusrite isa 430 ,, for my mic pre and it makes both mics sound great.. the difference between the 499 baby bottle and the mouse wich is considerbly more expenisive is almost negligable,, because of the mic pre
