So the locations of the members of this board are pretty diverse so I was wondering what are some smaller local bands you guys like that you think others might like checking out. Just give a link to a myspace or band website or whatever so we can check them out.

Jaguar Love - Ex members of Blood Brothers and Pretty Girls Make Graves, really good stuff.

http://www.myspace.com/jaguarloveband

Fleet Foxes - Folk rock from WA state, sounds like it should have came out in the 70's without sounding dated if that makes any fucking sense lol.

http://www.myspace.com/fleetfoxes

The Cave Singers - Another folkish type band from Seattle, recently signed to Matador records.

http://www.myspace.com/thecavesingers

Feral Children - Experimental indie rock, really good band. Hailed by many locally as "the next Modest Mouse"

http://www.myspace.com/theferalchildren

Pleasureboaters - Loud, noisy, obnoxious, and all around great. Gross is one of my favorite local releases of the year.

http://www.myspace.com/thepleasureboaters

The Assailant - Seattle hardcore done right, just broke up but where a great band.

http://www.myspace.com/theassailant

Das Llamas - Just fucking weird but great music, self described as a band who takes influance from "from dance to goth to punk to dub"

http://www.myspace.com/dasllamas

Post Harbor - Indie emo in the vein of Sunny Day Real Estate, Christie Font Drive, Mineral, etc -- One of my favorite local bands at the moment

http://www.myspace.com/postharbor

You.May.Die.In.The.Desert - Very talented post rock band, nuff said.

http://www.myspace.com/youmaydieinthedesert

The Whore Moans - Garage punk rock, pretty basic yet good stuff.

http://www.myspace.com/thewhoremoanssuck

Patient Patient - The Stranger newspaper says it best "If Radiohead was indie"

http://www.myspace.com/patientpatientband

Of course there are tons of greats bands that are missing from this list that are somewhat known but I tried to keep the list to bands that most of you prob never even heard of.

*edit* Just incase some people don't know where I am located these are all WA state bands. Mostly from Seattle or the greater surrounding areas.

Yeah I checked them out again awhile back after you posted their link and I liked them a lot more then upon the first listen. I always try to give bands 2,3,4 listens before writing them off because a lot of what I like is based on my mood at the time. I'm one of the only people I know who can be listening to minimalist music one day and then grindcore the next lol.

Autotoxin
One of my favorite local bands from MN. I like most of their new stuff but the two first songs on their myspace aren't my favorite of the new stuff. I'd check the older tracks... "Inside" and "Everywhere."

Gingerjake
Another favorite band of mine, female vocalist too. These guys' first CD kicked ass... I don't really care for their new stuff though. The track Grey On Blue is one of my favorites on their myspace.

These guys are actually from Iowa, but they came up for Autotoxin's CD Release so I got to see them then and I was quite impressed. They were one of the better sets of the whole night.

Heavens Gate
They got some good stuff. I like the "Madmen" and "Full Circle" tracks on their myspace.

Most the stuff is metal/rock/alternative type-a-shit.

Wow, now I can see why I don't know any of the bands you guys talk about. You listen to a way different style of music than I do. Not sayin' its bad, just not my style really...

Well maybe everything is a little too broad lol. I don't like Country or techno/house/etc.

What I ment was in the rock genre I listen to more or less everything in all the "sub genres."

The hell is g-punk? Gangsta punk? lol

I don't care for Hed Pe at all, different strokes for different folks I guess.

My ex's little brother loves that band so I heard everything up until their 2005 and on albums seeing that's when we broke up lol.

Outside of Rage Against the Machine I'm not into the whole rap/rock thing at all. It just doesn't sound right to me.

Well, I give you props for bein' a RATM fan... I think they were one of Hed's biggest influences. I don't think everyone can do the whole rap/rock deal myself... I've heard some horrible shit, but I def dig Hed PE and RATM, two of my most favorite bands ever!

You ever hear of Zebrahead? They're dope, I think you'd dig 'em.
