OK, so...for all my people on here....this shit is a hot topic right now...not only within my circle...but everywhere....we can almost ALL agree that RICK ROSS'S
new album...is dope...musically and lyrically....but here is the question i have for most of yall...when can you...or can you...determine an artists authenticity through the music he or she portrays...i know there is alot of people who believe in talkin about what they know...or living what they speak...being that this certain individual denied multiple allegations....only to submit to the truth via XXL. where and when do you determine..fuck it! i like his/her music..so it dont matter...or , i cant support that fake shit!???! me, myself...i cant support this shit....i mean..it is a great CONCEPT album...along with many of the I GOT RICH OFF DOPE albums flooding the market...but where do you draw the line....if your influincing millions of people by the words you use....but on the other hand...have no idea what its REALLY like....what makes these people speak? im not gonna lie..i like this niggas album...i knew i was gonna like it before it came out...but i cant ride thru comfortable knowing im listening to a LIAR, and a EX CORRECTIONAL OFFICER....comments please...negative and positive....1hunnit

Imma way in on this one since im from down his way, the truth is Ross should have been str8 up and told the truth, its nothing wrong with having a job. But on the real this is south Florida you can trip over a couple of bricks down here, its nothin to move weight down here, everybody and there momma does it. Now we all know he wasnt the boss because those dudes he ran with are all dead or in prison and never coming home, but the fact remains he ran with some real ass niggas.

Ross is a decent rapper imo. Even before i heard that he was a CO he didn't sound authentic to me. His music is all very stereotypical drug kingpin bullshit to me.
Not really my cup of tea.

If your going to start judging if you like music or not based on a rappers personal past and character....then you got to start doing it for actors in movies too...guess what the things they do on the big screen they don't do in real life. that's just the way rap is, was, and always will be. Rap is a trend, ego, and reputation driven genre. Of course everyone is gonna claim to be 100%. Especially in gangster rap. its music. dont look to rap in search of heroes and role models....just let your ears be the judge. that's my philosophy anyway.

On that note Rick Ross latest album is one of the most solid of this year so far.

in a sense these rap albums are like audio movies.....they play the part for those 80 minutes and have to stay in character at all times. as you said there are concept albums and there are those who are speaking the truth. just like there are fictional movies, and there are documentaries, same goes for rap. except the lines seperating them are a bit more blurred and we sometimes find out whats real and what aint and thats where we get into the competition aspect, exposures, etc. at the end of the day its all entertainment and i dont see it as anything more than that. of course i have respect for those who struggled and tell the story on their music more.

to me... personally i dont care what the rapper has or has not done in real life. i determine whats real and whats fake based on what i see in the world.

in the song "its going down" by celly cel he raps about driving around, playing dominoes, betting 5 dollars on sega, ect, all in one night.... now did he really do all of this in one night? we will never know, but i classify that as real music because i see people doing that type of stuff on a day to day basis where im from.

when a rapper raps as if theyre invincible, have all the money and women in the world, and will kill anybody who even looks at them and not suffer any consequences, thats when i determine it to be fake music. who is able to relate to that? anyone that can relate to that type of stuff is not living in reality.

i like the album. i play it on my computer.i wouldnt play it in my car, because i really don't wanna be associated with his image. same reason i wouldnt be runnin around slappin some omarion or some shit in my car. The only way i would buy it is if the money was made illegally. i refuse to give my money away that I EARNED in any way to someone who just blatantly lies and dances around the subject like that. i think when people get publically embarrassed, they tend to go forth and make good music (see nas, jayz, prodigy, lil wayne, etc) but that dosent mean they should really be commended for it. i mean the reality is, they hop in the fire and then jump out because its too hot. you cant go from telling the world your business to not telling the world your business.

if you stayed humble from the jump it would be different.
i heard he was a CO back in the 'everyday im hustlin' days but i had no proof....
i find it interesting that miamis police force took no interest in his claims..ive seen people get indicted for less..

i also find it interesting that def jam wouldnt know he was a CO before investing several million dollars and had a gameplan..

i find it triple interesting that as soon as the exposure got fresh he started screaming 'boobie boys' this and 'boobie boys' that...i didnt even know who they were until rick ross told me..

to me this was just marketing..i could see jayz and 50 cent sitting somewhere laughing about this shit to the sign of $$$$$$

because the truth is, the masses are gullible enough to eat anything you wrap in a tortilla and give to them...whether positive or negative.

is it better to assassinate a persons character, or work with them to make it look like a fight so both people can eat? B seems like the more lucrative of the situations.

and you know what really bothered me? that he took rick ross's name, and then when rick ross (the real one, in jail) spoke to him about it he acted like he didnt get the name from him.

AND THEN had the nerve to call the real rick ross a snitch.

well fuck, if hes a snitch why the fuck did you name yourself after him? you dont see any rappers naming themselves sammy the bull...

dude will just blatantly lie, everyone has a homie like that or had one, someone who always fuckin lying and both you and him know hes lying his ass off..i cant stand pathological liars.

Everybody just trying to make a little money by any means necessary and if it means telling a couple of lies to make a couple million then it is what it is. At the end of the day it's entertainment and everybody us just trying to feed their family.

Rick Ross is an ex CO living off a convicted drug dealers name who never lived that life or anything close to it. If I remember right hes got a CJ degree which most likley means he had aspirations to be a cop while he was working for the prison system. Me myself, i don't see nothing wrong with being in that line of work. Society needs cops and jailers or it would be chaos but if your a cop your a cop. It ain't cool to lie about being a crime boss if you are the police. its just lame.

From what i hear his album sounds pretty good though, but i'm not fuckin with dude at all. I'm not gonna support this guy so he can keep this charade going.

I HONESTLY AM A FAN OF GOOD MUZIC, I HAVE NO BOUNDRIES FOR THE TYPE OF SOUND THAT MAKES ME LIKE IT, BUT ITs HARD TO HEAR SOMEBODY RAP ABOUT SUMTHIN AND BE TOTTALLY FRAUDULENT, I LOVE THE SONG "RICH OFF COCAINE" BUT AS THE SONG IS PLAYIN I BE LIKE THIS NIGGA LYIN LIKE A MUTHAFUCKA, I DONT THINK ILL BUY HIS ALBUM ILL JUS DOWNLOAD IT WHICH IS WHAT I DID, HIS WHOLE PERSONA, IMAGE, AND LIFE IS A ? MARK. HEs USIN ANOTHER PERSONs NAME THATS STILL ALIVE WHO REALLY LIVED WHAT HEs RAPPIN. ANOTHER THING I HATE IS HE SAYIN HE WINNIN THE BEEF WIT 50 LMAO COME ON 50 KILLED HIM ONLY THING THATS SAVIN HIM IS THE MUSIC.

ALSO I THINK HIS ALBUM IS TRASH MAYBE CUZ I HAD HIGH EXPECTATIONS. THIS IS NOWHERE AS GOOD AS "GET RICH OR DIE TRYIN" LET ALONE "TRILLA"

i would have to respectfully disagree.. actors are just that- actors, theyre job is to pretend basically. hip hop is an artform for people to express themselves and communicate. shit, thats music in general. theres plenty of non gangstas who have gangsta rap songs like as a way to tell a story, or send a message, and thats all good. but for someone to fake that shit and then glorify it is just disrespectful to anyone whos actually had to go through that life because in the end, it's nothin nice.

in the end, ross is aite but i dont really feel him period and i definitely dont feel that co shit. and if some country singer is singin about drinkin beer and sleepin with another mans lady and riding on his horse but is really some jewish accountant from long island i would like that fools music less too. haha.

the actor/movie analogy don't work. if pacino made a movie and i made a movie and i say don't go see pacino's movie, see mine because mine is authentic and i was really in the mob and really put in work. its open season to check my background. actors don't do that it is clear they are portraying. ross said he really did it and then when it was shown he didn't he claimed they photo shopped. rap is the genre where it is expected that you really do or have done what you talk about. this thing is more than just music there is a culture and that is why people around the world fuck with it and imitate it. this is a culture and yes there are many fakes in it but it should be based on the real and if i know for a fact a nigga making up his shit i would be corny for fucking with it.
