Yea that's right. Subpar work and it all gets hyped. Like most of reggaeton for instance. There are some tracks I feel, but for the most part they all copy the same recipe and sound like shit but they are up on Billboard and you know they didnt sell that many units outside of their turf. Outside of a couple of nationwide known artists (Pitbull, Daddy Yankee), I wouldnt know them but they are on the charts. One of the posters said drop the Latin from Latin Rapper and just be a rapper, I have to agree. Its cool to hear someone rapping with barrio flavor but it should be appealable to everyone not just a certain niche market. Plus you can only get better if you are just a rapper and not a niche rapper. I still support Chicano Rap and buy almost every chicano rapper but damm it, I'm tired of forking over cash and filling shelves with product and only listening to a couple of cd's because the rest are garbage. Once the label comes off and the recipe gets burned, it should all be gravy.

I feels you dog... "Latin Rapper" is kind of wack but you have to realize that life is like that homie... When it comes down to it, everybody is put in its own category... Example: Eminem... When dude came out, he caught everybody off guard because nobody was expecting a "White" dude to be so successful in an industry that is dominated by african americans... Is the same for us latinos... What I don't understand is the Platinum status... 200k?!? That's the part that gets me... I mean, it'll make sense if they were talking about 200k on an independent level... But if they're talking about a major label then it's a different story... a million gets you platinum... In the hood, if you sell 100k independent, that's considered platinum... As far as SubPar music... That's really determined by what the individual feels... I like a lot of Reggaeton shit cuz I'm dominican and I can understand all that guther spanish shit they're spittin... It has a formula that they all follow... just like Lil Jon... Just like Kanye... Just like Dre... They make the music to keep them latin females shaking that ass... but yea... I don't feel like calling us Latin Rappers is right... But it be like that...
