Though the group may be young, Darxiide is no stranger to the hip hop scene. They have released six previous albums, and their seventh, Puget Sound Mixtape, volume 1, shows their dedication to the representation of hip hop music in the pacific northwest. Darxiide's music, alone, is a collaboration of talent as each member shares the words and beat on every song. They are perhaps the most talented hip hop group in the Tacoma area, having performed in multiple venued and garnered many fans.
Because of their loyalty to the original hip hop genre and their pride in collaboration, the members of Darxiide were invited to listen to and review the new digital mixtape created by DJ Felli Fel, DJ Warrior, Clinton Sparks, Ray J, Ice Cube, Chino XL, Jimmy Marsh, Donnie Wahlberg, Roscoe Umali, New Boyz, and Lil' Rob (Lakers Vs Celtics). While music critics are typically the ones give a thumbs up or thumbs down on new albums, it is of greater interest to hear what one hip hop group can share about another. Here is what Darxiide had to say:
Nick Dominguez writes, "There's some good tracks on there. I like the majority of tracks; they all have a different upbeat feel to them. It seems like an eastcoast/westcoast battle all the way through.
Dru Breeze writes, "Pretty good mixtape. Nice presentation, plays smoothly, skits are nice too. There's an interesting Donnie Wahlberg skit where he's interviewed as a big Celtics fan. Obscure adds like this make me think he puts time into the small details, which always takes anything to the next level."
Sicill writes, "Nice blend of tracks from both sides, so you're gonna like it whether you're a Lakers fan or a Celtics fan. Good music to play before and after the NBA finals. My favorite track is "Lakers Anthem". Chino XL delivers, and nice features from Ray J, Roscoe Umali, and Mack 10 too."
The NBA championship series is currently tied at one a piece with game three starting tonight at 9pm EST on ABC (check your local listings).
For Darxiide fans, here are some important dates to remember:
