KutMasta Kurt "Dr.Dooom 2" Interview from koolkeith.co.uk
KutMasta Kurt Dr.Dooom 2 Interview by PornBarnz
PornBarz:
The Diesel Truckers are back with a new Album - "Dr.Dooom 2". How long did you work on the album and when did you n Keith decided that a second Dr.Dooom is badly needed?
KutMasta Kurt:
After the return of Dr. Octagon came out, it created a need for Dooom to come back and finish the job. We worked on the album for a couple of weeks. I had most of the beats already made and keith was writing them in the days inn and other places while we were on a tour of the southwest. Thus the line on "come to the days in and see our room" on do not disturb.
PB:
You decided to release the pre-single "RIP Dr. Octagon" as an download. How are the sales figueres?
KMK:
It's sold fine, but since the video came out it has picked up more steam. Check out the video www.youtube.com/thresholdrecordings
PB:
Why did you choose to release it as a digital download?
KMK:
Because the vinyl market has really dry-up. Vinyl singles generally don't sell enough to make it worth-while to press them.
PB:
Will it also be released as an 12 inch Single on Wax?
KMK:
We might do a 12" with some remixes...might,
PB:
Whats Dr.Dooom 2 all about?
KMK:
Same stuff as the first album. Chopping up bodies and cooking them in a pot for dinner.
PB:
Is it a reaction to the "Return Of Dr.Octagon" Bootleg?
KMK:
Yes, of course.
PB:
From where did you get your inspiration and how do felt making those Dr.Dooom 2 beats?
KMK:
I watch old 70's horror flicks like texas chain-saw massacre and phantasm. a little blackula too! can't forget about blackula, the black dracula!
PB:
What do you personally think about the album?
KMK:
It's better then the first one. less fat, more raw meat.
PB:
Will it be the final Dr.Dooom album?
KMK:
Hopefully we won't need to make another one. we never planned to do another dooom album, but some how dr octagon re-appeared.
PB:
How does it feel working again with Kool Keith since your last offical album "The Diesel Truckers"?
KMK:
It's fine. I only want to make a new album with Keith once every few years, I think it's better that way, since he puts out so much "other" stuff the albums he does with me can stand out from the rest, and people know what they will get from us when we team-up. We did release the sex style-unreleased archives though last year, but it was old vintage material...check it out if you haven't, it's a must have for the fans!
PB:
What can we expect in the future from KutMasta Kurt?
KMK:
The FunkyRedneck has been in the studio working on a few things, including a solo album. Also The FunkyRedneck recently found out he has a long lost twin brother who grew-up in the punjab, his name is Kutmandu Sing. He and an mc by night; computer programmer and call center mogul by day Richard Vindaloo have a upcoming project called Masala '84.
PB:
Allright. Thank you very much Kurt, the US releasedate for Dr.Dooom 2 will be the 23rd of September so get your preorder now. KutMasta Kurt some last words to your fans?
KMK:
Yeah, we used a special virus program & imbedded it in the mp3 files of the Dr. Dooom 2 Album and uploaded them to all the bit torrents and on rapid share, megaupload, zshare etc etc. so for all of you downloading illegal copies of the album, your ipod will slowly be erased and your computer will crash soon...you've been warned, buy the legal downloads only, cd's and wax to avoid these problems...
PB:
Thanks a lot KutMasta Kurt.
