Known Associates 2 is solid. The beats and lyrics take you back to a different time in Bay Area hip hop, but don't sound dated by any means. Apt. 3/DNA has once again delivered a monster compilation featuring names that you already should know from the classics these artists have dropped in the past. These artists helped form the backbone of the music out here. For those missing a certain sound in the Bay or who are tired of hyphy music, grab this release.

There's plenty of solid tracks on here, but the real standouts to me are...

"Northern Warriors" - Mac-10 (Totally Insane), Louie Loc, SOS (Triple 6), Baldhead Rick (UNLV)

"Be Easy" - Cellski, Dutch, Ad Kapone (Totally Insane)

"Younger Days" - GLP (San Quinn, JT The Bigga Figga, Ive Low, D-Moe, Seff Tha Gaffla)

"Make Some Noise" - C-Fresh (IMP), Tony Francis (Young "D" Boyz), Ad Kapone (Totally Insane)

"Set Your Block On Fire" - C-Fresh (IMP), Spice 1

Production is provided my some classic beatmakers from the Bay including Big Drawz of 2-Illeven, TC, JT and more.

And if you missed getting a copy of Theme Music To Drug Dealins & Killins (another classic Apt. 3/DNA compilation), the inclusion of it as a second disc here is a great bonus.

For an exclusive listen to "Younger Days" from GLP, visit my website at http://strivin.com/2008/03/11/exclusive-track-from-known-associates-2/

pretty much right on..

my personal favorites are "cash" by 11/5 and woodie (RIP), "younger days" by the GLP, and the track with totally insane and baldhead (can't think of the name right now). something like 80-85% of the album is produced by TC, so the production is excellent, plus you get "theme music" for free, which is a great comp in itself.

overall its an excellent album, well worth the purchase.
