Killzone 3 is aiming to be bigger and better.

New details about the game were revealed in the latest issue of GamePro magazine, and it looks as though developer Guerrilla Games is looking to take the Killzone franchise to a whole new level.

The most notable change to the gameplay for Killzone 3 is the inclusion of jetpacks, which seem to act as a form of double-jump for crossing terrain more quickly and easily. The developer says the jetpacks resemble "something you do in platformers such as Super Mario Bros. or Uncharted."

Shooting an enemy wearing a jetpack makes them explode "like roman candles."

Another major addition is the option to play the game entirely in 3D, which requires 3D-enabled glasses and television to work. It was stated that this added a nice effect to the arctic snow level Frozen Shores that was shown in the demo. The snowflakes become more noticeable, and enemy bullets pop out as they fly past your head.

The gun combat remains relatively unchanged from the previous game. A new weapon was detailed, The Wasp, which discharges rockets that look like a swarm of robotic insects.

The levels are also said to be much larger in scale compared to the past game.

The new issue of GamePro is currently being shipped to subscribers. The issue will hit newsstands on June 1.

if they make the online maps smaller it will be great, that was one of my only needs with the game and also less damage to kill someone

yeah, and also make it so it doesn't feel as if your character is struggling to move around

even though modern warfare 2 is wack the gameplay is still better, killzone would need to improve a lot to really compete

killzone was cool but felt too sluggish for me.
That's why i couldn't get into it either the first time i bought it. I wanna pick up a used copy and give it another try. But I don't see why it really gets as much hype as it does. IMO it's over rated, but I'll give it a second chance and see if it changes my mind.

You can put a miniature Helghast helmet in your home if you purchase the deluxe edition of Killzone 3 for the PlayStation 3. But tiny space Nazi helmet replicas aren't the only goodies coming in Killzone 3 Helghast Edition.

In addition to that lovely centerpiece, buyers of the Killzone 3 deluxe edition will also get an exclusive art book, bonus video content, the Killzone 3 "Super Voucher" and a copy of the game, naturally. The Helghast Edition also comes with a Cloaking Helghast Marksman action figure from DC Direct, the folks making spectacular Killzone, God of War and Ratchet & Clank toys.

The aforementioned "Super Voucher" grants downloadable access to the game's soundtrack, a PS3 Dynamic Theme, two multiplayer maps from Killzone 2 and special bonuses for the first 24 hours of multiplayer, like double XP and access to every in-game weapon.

All that stuff looks like this when placed side by side.

How much would you expect to pay for something like this? $129.99 USD? Good, because that's what the Helghast Edition will cost.

Killzone 3 ships in February for the PS3. More details on the special edition and pre-order bonuses at the official PlayStation.blog
