The first track that really got my attention was “Shittin’ On Da World.” One of my all time favorite Bay Area producers, Sean T, laced a heater that Kaoz rides perfectly with an aggressive delivery. Messy Marv and Hollow Tip guest on “United We Stand” which is one of my favorites on the album. My favorite line comes from Kaoz though with “…there’s somethin’ ‘bout your eye that make niggas wanna black it/there’s somethin’ ‘bout your face make niggas wanna smack it…” Kaoz and Dutch tag team a Crazy 8 track with solid results on “Monsta Rappin’.” With all the trash talk about Dutch on the internet you would think he was a garbage rapper, but I liked his verse and the chorus he put down. Another favorite of mine is “I’m Ghetto” with production from Sean T and featuring T-Nutty. I wasn’t really feelin’ the chorus on “Y2Kaoz,” but the verses more than make up for it. “…it’s like I’m a walkin’ stem of chronic and ya haters wanna bag me…” is the line that caught my ear from Kaoz. Myth demolishes “Ride 2 Dis.” I’m lovin’ his lyrics, delivery and especially his voice. I hope to hear more from him in the future. Kaoz steps it up a notch though and doesn’t let his guest outshine him. It’s a toss up between this one and “United We Stand” for best track with this one having a slight advantage. Other standout tracks are “Get’Em” with Young Droop, “Other Shit” and “Block Hittaz” featuring Trifelen, D Lo & Dubble J.
I’m really not too familiar with Kaoz, but if this album is a good representation of what he brings to the table I’ll stop sleepin’ and pay more attention in the future when I see his name on a project. With only a few tracks that didn’t do anything for me, this is a solid debut package which has become increasingly rare the last few years.
