After news spread Tuesday (September 11) that Kanye West's Graduation is leading in sales over 50 Cent's Curtis, Billboard is reporting the first set of numbers.

According to Billboard.com, Nielsen SoundScan is reporting that first-day sales of West's new album were 437,000, 310,000 for 50 Cent, and country singer Chesney's Just Who I Am: Poets and Pirates is way behind with 107,000.

The Building Charts feature on SoundScan offer an indication of how races shape up each week for SoundScan's final charts, which post projected national sales each Wednesday morning, extrapolated from a panel of merchants that represents more than 90% of the U.S. music market.

The retailers Nielsen compiles their data from include Trans World Entertainment, Best Buy, Borders, Circuit City, iTunes, Target, Anderson Merchandisers and Handleman Co. The last two mentioned place music into mass merchants, including WalMart's stores.

More retailers are expected to be added to the list at a later date.

With the numbers, Graduation is expected to pass 750,000 in total week's sales.

THEY SAYING 50 IS GONNA CATCH UP BEFORE THE ENND OF THE WEEK. The whole situation seems skept especially if 50 ends up in the lead on the actual printed chart when its released next week

I mean who is Kanye's target market... all his singles seem hella POP to me, and we all know POP artist sell more than Rap/ Hip hop artist... Plus it seems like "THE PEOPLE" you know who the f*ck I am talking about only like 50 when he is talking about shooting or getting shot...
