Yup. I had been trying to get a new CD copy of STRAIGHT OUT THE LABB #1 for a minute, and getting the '93 version w/ the new '03 edition was well worth the cash, IMHO.

JT's production skills are still intact--the '03 CD is reflective of the old GLP sound, but I get the feeling that JT didn't try TOO hard to emulate the old sound precisely, and that's good--there's enough variation that you can tell it's a 2003 record. Quinn, D-Moe, Young Noble, Skip (wow!), Bushy Moe (where's HE been?), The Game, Eddie Boy (from THE FAMILY BUSINESS), Louie Loc, and JT himself gave the best lyrical performances on the CD, IMHO.

A couple of the shorter songs took awhile to grow on me ("It's The GLP", "Think Music") but I can honestly say that now, there's not a track on the new CD that I don't like (which is something I usually can't say about most CDs I buy).

PEACE!

I AGREE

MUCH LOVE, MY NEW BEATS ARE STUPID AS FUCK! WHEN "THE MAIN EVENT" HIT THE STREETS THE WORD WILL BE OFFICIALLY OUT, THE FIG HAS GOT TO BE ONE OF THE TIGHTEST PRODUCERS IN THE GAME. IM ALMOST CERTAIN. THE PRODUCTION ON THE O3 GLP WAS AIMING AT THAT OG FEEL. BUT THE NEW SOUND HAS THAT SKELETON BUT FRESH MEAT TO THE BONES. YOU WONT BE DISSAPOINTED!!!!!

Yeah for real....jt shouldn't fuck with any other producer but himself
Sure. Not that he didn't sound good over Sean T's and Giggalo's beats, but there's something about JT's production that's so specific to Get Low, period, that you do notice the difference between when JT produces and when he doesn't.

Like I said in my first post on this thread--the key, I think, is for JT to keep elements of the old sound (i.e. keyboard textures, percussion noises) while putting in new variations as well, which is what he did on STRAIGHT OUT THE LABB #2 (2003). That way, the music will satisfy those who want the old sound, but it'll also sound like something new as well.

PEACE!
