donate to the 50cal needs mo vinyl collection. Its funny you said this yesterday I came up on over 100 records for free...damn christmas aint gonna have shit on this. There is alot of sampling on the west coast..I feel that the average rap fan will only recognize the common samples like al green, the spinners..shit like that, vinyl is good for getting drum sounds, lil guitar parts and of course a bar here and there. What have you tried to sample with? My homie who produces professionally told me that its better to not be one dimensional as far as just sampling or just playing keys, just making g-funk, or what not..check my my space song unordinairy love..its sample free he did that, but check what ya ride fo..It has an unrecognizable small sample... both were done by my boy

If you're not a musician and don't play any instruments then sampling is what you're stuck with. Some people have built careers off of sampling other peoples work. Look at Kanye West or DJ Premier. They're not musicians.

I can't tell you if you wasted your money because I don't know what you're trying to accomplish. I'll say this though, buying a keyboard/synth if you can't play it would be more of a waste. And 50cal's buddy is right if you actually want to try becoming a professional... Being one-dimentional ain't gonna cut it.

very true kanye is one dimensional and is getting his, sampling has went through fazes ,just like g-funk so if all you make is g-funk,you not in a good position cause not many are buying those kind of beats..I gotta give it up to premeire he has made a career at it, and is fortunate

I have TT's just cause I'm an ACTUAL DJ (yeah go figure) lol....But keep in mind, if u don't feel like sampling loops/riffs etc it's STILL good to be able to sample snares, kicks and the like.....

Thats the way i feel bout them, i talk to all these producers from like the midwest n shit, and thats all they do, just sample i meen lookin at this guy in the video really turned my off from all this sampling shit lol, right here but yea i guess if i cant do anything with them rite now, im jus gonna sell em, i bought a new cartridge too, shure m447h, a mixer, a preamp (before the mixer) and a radio shack ground loop remover (waste). So look out for this shit in the classifieds in the next week or so.

Aside from all this, i dont wana use monitors rite now, u think some sony standard studio headphones gonna be good for me, i mainly cant hear the bass from my consumer headphones and its drivin me crazy. I know mixing in headphones is bad, but i just wana hear how the beat is u feel me, i got a situation where i cant really listen thru monitors.

dont sell them...what equipment are you currently using....like mark7 said where are you gonna get your drum kits? most those ones for sale are not great...also....well......dr dre samples his ass off...of course they replay some shit...sampling is an art in itself, and doesnt go out of style...if you like convenience and everything pre maid and reday to use.....thats why alot of music sounds the same, and is too clear.....sometimes I just find some records speed em up to a tempo I like and play some drums on my mpc.....It shows you how drums are suppose to be played and how the snare is suppose to snap...Im not talking new records...maybe some al green or something..you can use c.ds. but I recommend you get a c.d. player that you can adust the tempo, cause at different tempos shit sounds different..however wax has a sound hard to duplicate..
